Ok, I just bought a pair of new front shocks for my 67 Camaro. I am about to put them on but I have noticed there is no external bump stop for stopping the motion of the shock. Am I correct this stop is internal?

the bump stop should be a snubber stopping the controll arms... if the shocks absorb a bottom big hit youll kill the shock mount..

On myu former shocks there was a metal stop on the top of the shock- the new shocks do not have this , so I am wondering if it is internal or send them back.

there is a hydraulic buffer mechanism in most new shocks.. so you wont hit metal/metal .. but im saying that the shock shouldnt be your suspension bump stop, atleast not on compression... it will break the mount

The shock should not be the stop for bump or droop. There are snubbers in the LCA and UCA to control this as the shock should have free motion between these points.
