I was reading through the What's next for Pro-Touring (https://www.pro-touring.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38817) thread and someone mentioned more PT cars getting out on track.

This is an event that I've been going to since 1997. It's a small, dedicated group of enthusiasts that have been online since the mid-early 90s. It is the best way to get cheap track time, instruction and comraderie with fellow gearheads.

Drag racing, autox, road course, solo-style timed road course event, and car show. You can't beat the price for a private 3 day track rental and the organizers/attendees are some of the best people in the world.

I'm going again this year - already signed up and paid - it would be great to see some PT F-bodies out there with me.

Here's the event flyer - http://www.fbody-event.org/eventflyer2008.pdf - It's being held May 15-17 at Memphis Motorsports Park in Memphis, TN.

I know I'm a new guy here, but the event is not new. We've been doing it for longer than many people have been online. Check it out!

Now's the time to register if you're coming. Even if you have to back out there's a generous return fee policy. Come on fellows. We need more folks to show up and wave the classic iron flag!

Like Bill said alot of us are already set-up for the Year one Event which is the same weekend. It would be nice next year if they scheduled a different weekend from the year one, it sounds like a good event to attend but unfortunately the year one is a must make event for alot of us.

Sure, that's understandable.

This was a closed event for years. You had to be a member of the list serve to attend. With GM no longer making the f-body (for now) numbers have dropped so they're opening it up more to keep it going. Perhaps next year it will work out for everyone.

For those who won't be at the Year One event, give this one a try. You won't be disappointed.

Man, that sounds cool. I'd like to see how my 15's do on the AutoX :drive1:

At least I have power steering now. :woot:

I'll have to see if I can work something out.

Well, I'd planned on attending the YO event as a spectator or with my show car, but with some serious thrashing I could have the race car ready for the track by then since no competition cars are allowed on track at the YO event.

Are comp cars allowed at the F-body event?

Yep. I'm not sure which group they'd work you into but they'd find a way, I'm sure.

This is really about a bunch of folks with varying levels of cars out having a good time and getting a chance to push the cars a bit.

Oh, and I'll be trying out my mostly stock, 1974 Trans Am with 15 inch wheels on that autocross course. Just look for the pig with all the body roll!

Hey guys, just a little over a month until the event! Still plenty of time to prep your car and get signed up.

How many cars are you expecting? How many went last year?

Gosh, years past I'd say roughly 100 cars. The bulk were 4th generation cars but there was a fair showing from all generations. Team Classic will be there again this year. ;)
