I have a 93 corvette block (LT1) that is going to be turbo charged. Its stock with 4 bolt mains BUT I changed the mains for some aftermarket ones and ADDED ARP main stud kit ALSO it has been short filled(a.k.a half fill) with engine filler. its bored .03 over. I have been told that (after block modds) the most that the block can handle is 600hp maybe 700hp and that was pushing it! what do you all think that this block can hadle? the goal was 900-1,000hp

It will work I had 396 Lt1 I did the same block mods too, Know it will break mine finally did, but it took 3 yrs and alot of Nos hits. I was in the 1k hp range on the bottle.

well mine being a 355, dont you think it might last a little longer?

I know that it will break but im looking for longevity.

It should live... but who knows how long. If you assemble everything correctly and don't detonate it, it should be OK. But you'll probably be down 50-70hp compared to say a Dart block; the thinner GM cylinder walls distort more and bleed off combustion pressure and thus lose power compared to the aftermarket blocks with beefier cylinder walls.

If you have changed from bolts to studs I would recommend having the block re-line honed and the bores re-honed (use a torque plate of course.) Changing from bolts to studs can change the shape of things a little bit and on a block with that target HP level I would not be cutting any corners.

Cubic inches has nothing to do with the wear on it,the difference between a 396 and 355 would be small. its the horsepower level you want to make.

I used a similar setup but started getting nervous at around 850fwhp so I moved to a Motown block. I don't like the idea of finding the breaking point of the GN block at 140mph. I'm selling the old block to a guy that wants to stick to the 600fwhp range where it should be golden.

what about the main's. Im using 4 bolt main but they arent splayed and arent going to be.

what is a good company for mains when you got 1,000hp?
