Well, I asked around on about every car forum I can think of... I was told they wont fit. "Too tall" "Too wide"
Well after a couple days of work with my dad, we got them in and they fit pretty well. Really sturdy and have plenty of head clearance.
Here are some crappy pictures from my camera phone...will get new ones tomorrow:

Awesome, please more pics. So no headroom issues? You don't sit up high like you were in a SUV? It looks like you were able to use the factory mounts. Will you be producing and selling these adaptors, if so how much? Again awesome job, keep us posted.

Car is at the alignment shop today...should get it back tomorrow night or friday morning. I'll grab some pictures then. I might be producing them..idk yet. They need to get some kinks to be worked out...like notching so they hug the floor a little better...
No head room issues... Like 3 inches from the roof. But like i said I'll have to think about what it will cost to make these and get them coated black. How much would you guys be willing to pay for a set? I'm not trying to make a killing but it would help fund my budget project.
Northern Goat
01-23-2008, 05:33 PM
I wouldn't need them painted or anything, I have access to free powder coating. Check your email.
cdoggy81
01-23-2008, 09:23 PM
I wouldn't need them poweder coated either.
Looks like you made them out of aluminum flat stock. Look good!
Have you got the power to them yet? Curious if there is any issues when you move them front & back. That's great you got them to work. Looking forward to seeing more pics!!! :woot:

Seats have full power and no issues with sliding at all...
cdoggy81
01-23-2008, 09:26 PM
Nice! Was it hard to wire up?
dstryr
01-24-2008, 03:26 PM
The wiring was the easier part of the whole seat install,,, you run 1 hot lead from the fuse box ( off the BAT terminal ) to the orange wire with the black line and just ground them .
And if anyone was interested in buying a set of these for their car...I'm looking for about 85$ a set. That includes the brackets, hardware, instructions on modifications to the seats....
Let me know because I need 4 people to buy them before I go ahead and order material.
Thanks,
Dennis

I'm in Dennis.
dstryr
01-24-2008, 05:13 PM
Ha well tell your friends too :p. I have to wait for 3 more people becuase I have to buy material in 12 ft increments so... I dont want to get stuck with it ya know?

I hear what you are saying. I'll see what I can do.

01-24-2008, 08:47 PM
Do you think these would work in a 70 chevelle? If so I'm in, I have a set of power seats out of a 2006 GTO.
cdoggy81
01-24-2008, 09:44 PM
I'm in as well but......
LMK how much material you need b/c I can get good prices on flat stock & it doesn't have to be 12' worth!
dstryr
01-24-2008, 11:07 PM
Well I figure it would only be worth my time if I had atleast 4 sets to make... These will only work on a chevelle if the chevelle seat bolts in the floor are exactly like the ones in a 71 camaro...I can not gaurentee anything as they were made for the floors in my car.

I am curious how much headroom you have with these seats. seems like they would sit kinda high. I love how those seats look I'll have to take a look at these.
dstryr
01-28-2008, 08:36 PM
Well they sit pretty damn low with the seats at the bottom of their travel... if i remember ill grab some pictures of the seats all the way to the floor...and all the way as high as they will go.

I want to make it clear that these will fix nice and snug in your car. Plenty of headroom with the adjustments. And another thing is I do not know if these will fit in later year second gens. i have only tried them on my 71 so here is my disclaimer. Thirdly, the adjustment levers are a little hard to get to with the door closed. it can be reached but not with a lot of room.
If you dont mind, then send an email to
[email protected] to place an order. cost is $105 dollars out the door with shipping.
Thanks,

cdoggy, I thought I was bad with my "pontiac problem". I just showed your signature to my wife, and she agreed I don't have a problem. Thanks for that! Also, One of mine is a 04 GTO, another is a 70 Firebird. The GTO seats are super comfortable, and I could easily imagine them in the Firebird.

No Problem! Glad I could "help" :)
I am thinning the heard a bit though. I just sold 1 of my 2 1973 TA's ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QWjJhDMcL0 )
I listed 1 of my 2 1970 TA's ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6427&viewitem=&item=220199534861&_trksid=p3907.m29 )
I'm going to list my 70 formula.
My brother is going to take the 70 FB.
I'm gooooing to not fix the GTO & put it in the other 70 TA.
Now you did state the main issue here though. You said the "W" word........ See, I'm 28 & not married.... hehehehehe......... :) All my married friends say get the toys now while you can!

Alright guys here is an update. Im sorry to tell you, its a bad one.
I was supposed to get my car back today from being painted so I could finish making the front brackets for you guys. Well with my luck, the painter ended up taking a 2 week vacation and won't be back for two weeks.
Yeah I know this isnt what you want to hear but im trying to be honest. So I figure I can offer you guys two options. If you want to wait the two weeks I'll have the brackets to you as soon as I possibly can get them sent out.
However, if you do not want to wait an additional two weeks I'll send your money back ASAP. Its your decision so let me know what you want to do...
Again Im really sorry.

How'd you get the rear seat to fit? I have a set but it seemed like too much work. Really interested in that.
76LQ9TA
07-28-2008, 07:02 PM
I had a local upholstery shop modify the rear seats. They cut off the collar around the headrest, narrowed the center section, and welded the stock frame on the back of the gto frame. The lower sections had the fronts shortened and the stock seat frames welded to the gto frames. The shop said is was easy to make the rear seats fit.
