Kudos to Tony Stewart for the burnout in the staging lanes.
haha yeah but the announcer was right about the BJ insurance man's heart skipping a beat when he did that. That was the first thing that popped into my mind.
someone stole that car for 51k. Bill get in here. Was that you sitting there with your friend buying Poison Dart?

I watched that car get built at Jeffs shop. That car was STOLEN for that price. I did like the new seats. It came out really well and looked great under the lights.

I would bet Jeff's bill on the build was more than it sold for.

that guy was kinda fat, wasn't he...LOL I though Bill was loosing weight. As the guy's on Speed would say...that one was well bought. A great deal for someone.

So in 20 yrs when Darts are finally worth something, are we gonna be mad that Jeff was part of cutting up a perfectly good car? Hell no. That car will hold its value really well.
Seems like a lot of guys losing money this year. Last year, you couldn't touch an LS6 Chevelle for under $100k
I think the market has started to see some correction. But, there's still 2 days left and the rest of the year for reg auctions.

The guy that bought it was Bill's friend Yanci. Bill says the battery was dead and it did not dive onto the stage and he really thinks that killed it dead! bill said he felt bad for the seller, but was damn happy for his friend to simply steal one.
Yanci is a Tennessee boy, so maybe we will be able to see the Poison Dart at the Run through the Hills 2008!

Just in from the auction. Yes, Yancy bought the car, I simply "incouraged" him....lol
Melinda said I was on a "no car diet". Sooooooo I did not buy anything (yet), I just helped a friend spend his money....hehe
I really hate it for the owner of the car, and don't want to bring my car here to try and sell. I was afraid the protouring style cars were going to take a hit after a couple went thru earlier in the day. I do know though that Yancy got one hell of a buy from the buyers side of things.
Oh, and about my diet, do the letters KMA mean anything.....hehehe

LOL, don't worry Bill, you looked good. Besides I hear the camera adds 10 lbs.
Nice catch. Its hard to make money selling them these days.

I was there with Yancy.. he STOLE that car.. with the juice it cost him $56k for a car that cost $250k to build.
The seller got around $45k.. :(
I actualy felt bad, but good for Yancy.
But bad for myself since Yanci was going to buy my Fairlane :(
Barrett Jackson is nuts.. the whole place it nuts.
The car won't start, dead batt, and I bet that hurt it bad. Screwed over a $100 battery.
The guy at BJ said he drove the car a few times over the last few days (moving it around) and that the car hauls ass and was the most fun of any other car he had driven. It just picked a bad time not to start (good for Yancy) though. Bill is in trouble with Yancy's wife.. lol
Anyone wanna buy a Fairlane? lol

It's weird. Some cars are getting top dollar and others are laying an egg. A prime example was the Ford Torino Talladega on Thursday night that went for 40k. That was a steal for such a rare car. And then Boss 302s are going for over 100k.

I was shocked at the selling price for the Poison Dart.
Could it be that its just because it is not a so called highly desirable model like a 'Cuda,Camaro,Mustang etc?
I feel real pain for the seller. But at the same time it is one of those auction moments that I wish that I was there:banghead:
Not trying to start anything but the gavel banged pretty quickly on that car. Compared to what appears to be a tendency this year to
extend bidding opportunities on the cars (compared to last year).
These ar just observations from my easy chair at home. I realize that one must be there "live" to really know what is going on..

Sweet Deal thanks to Bill. He said, thats a great deal at 60K and the next thing I know my hand on its own went up in the at 40k and the rest is history. Best deal at B-J I think. The NEW interior in this car looks great. Does any one know who redone the interior?
I really Love the Fairlane. Steve has done a great job on it. My wife will kill me having two rides. Please let me know or Steve if any one is interested?
Does any one know where the battery compartment is?

I would love to see pics of the interior since I thought the original was hideous.
Seems like the battery was in the trunk, but maybe Jeff S will chime in, but I see he has been online and is staying the hell out of here. I'm sure you are joking.
Have fun with the car.

Awsome buy Yanci. Hangin' around Bill will get you killed one way or another...LOL You know we all expect that thing to be at RTTH4 right? You should be able to find the batt compartment by then.
oh yeah Bill, I hope you dont hold that comment against me, musta just been a bad camera angle and the horizontal striped shirt...LOL

The price brought a tear to my eye. Batt was buried in the trunk. There were posts easily accessible under the car on drivers side for jump starting it. That may have been changed or the owner didn't know.
We did that because it had a Cadillac power pulldown trunk latch.
I hope it gets out to some events in 08. That's the trickest Dart on the planet.
Check out the V8TV video links here.

I too would love to see what was changed on the car. I think that a shop out of Michigan did the work on the interior. If Yanci is in the area he should take it to Year one in may.
I have always loved that car it's just too bad it was plaqued with so many little problems. It's the Baddest dart on the road.

I've been so swamped this week I haven't had a chance to watch but my parents have been phoning me with updates as they've been there every day this week. I had no idea Bill and Steve were going to be out there. Damn, I might have went.
Congrats to Yanci on the Dart. And yes...I hope to get a chance to see that car along with Prodigy's Empty Nest and G-Force's Demon at RTTH4.

Yes, PJ's Trim Shop near Detroit re-did the interior. He's done a lot of GM project's interiors. Murray Pfaff designed it (interior and exterior).
Orginal int was not too radical due to the short build time line.
(3 month total).

You could easily filp that car considering what you stole it for... I wonder what it would have brought Saturday night with a good battery?
hell Yancy, that might have turned out to be a great deal for you after all. We don't need details but do let us know if it changes hands again right away. It'll be nice to keep track of this car.

The battery in the dart was dead because the ignition button was left on for 12 days it drained it dead. Did not find out till 1/2 hour before the block. Car ran great till I turned it off. The battery is behind the back seat. Be carefull what you mess with the car has 4 computers in it.. The engine was just completely rebuilt in the last 3 months...

Thanks for the info. Can you pm me your contact info please?
It did crank fine this afternoon. One of the drivers for B/J told us that it drove and ran fine with him when it got there. I was told that there was a battery hook up terminal somewhere but we could not find them. Luckly, the jumper was strong enough to get it done.

No, we did not find a battery, even though a quick call the Jeff S. told me it was behind the fuel cell. I just jumped it with the lead on the alternator.
New owner posts here as Myshark.
Obviously his first name is Yancy. Good friend of mine and lives about 2 hours away from me in Tennessee.

It's an old school trick. Very handy when your batt is in the trunk and your electric trunk won't pop due to a dead battery. The alt is wired to the batt so it works well (as long as you can get to the post).

we had lights trunk opend dome light worked. first jcharge of 20 m got the car running into the staging lanes jumped again and it ran for 5-10 minueats and conked out put gas in it and would not re start. so i was pushed into lane 1 and then on stage. the auctioneer told the whole building and the car died when people heard this, iwas looking for at least 125. the staff there was super so was rich dabrul from speed even goldberg talked to me after the sale. the car was said to be one of the best custom cars there everyone loved it that helpped some..

Since we were discussing it I though I would pull up the original feature we did on it.
I certainly like the new interior better and I like how they re-detailed the engine bay.

This might take a turn to the biggest heartbreak of the whole show. I really like that car and hope all is well with the old owners family.
Jeff said he really wished he could have been there to see the sale. (He might have been one of the bidders!!)
