i am going to paint my 67 black primer untill i can get it ready for paint. i plan on keeping it in primer for awhile because i want to get the car running right and everything finished before paint. what is the best black primer out there? i have heard dp90 is very good. i want that deep black. this will be a show car even in primer, i have plenty of things on the car to help out the primer look but i want the best black primer out there, suggestions?

Is DP90 epoxy? Does it need a hardener?

one thing to consider with the dp-90 is how long are you going to leave in primer. the stuff is a great product, but over time will fade to a deep gray if exposed to sunlight for lengthy times. i ran my 40 in dp-90 for about 4 yrs & it faded to a dark battleship gray during that time.

Take a look at Kirker "Hot Rod Black". It's a urethane that is supposed to be UV-proof-ish. My old man is gonna spray his Impala with it, but hasn't done it yet.

IMO DP90 is the way to go in your case. Even if it does fade, you'll probably want to re-prime for paint in the future. When you're ready to paint it, simply scuff that DP90, and put on some high build urethane and/or sealer, and paint that puppy. DP90 is some tough stuff, hard as a rock to sand, and very harmful to your lungs when spraying. Make sure you use proper respirators when using DP90.
