I'm looking for a set of mounts for the rear sway bar on a 69 Camaro. The mounts that it came with for the axle tube locations were cheezy sheetmetal u-bolt things at best. Does anybody out there make something that when you look at it you don't think to yourself "wow that could have been done cleaner/better". I have no problem welding something to the axle tube. I could make something but I was just wondering what's out there already made.

Thanks, Lance

well you could make something out of billet or ? BUT the general concensus is not to run a rear sway bar on a first gen- i used to and now dont - less weight too makes you faster dont it? actually the u-bolts work fine -but you could do something to make them neater or more high tech looking :geek:

Weight has nothing to do with it. It is the increase in roll stiffness that is not good.

What brand of rear bar is it?
A member called Addco to get new mounting brackets, and they sent him a whole new bar for free! The new bars have a much better method but think it does use U bolts. The original Addco setup used formed sheet metal clamps around the axle tubes.

I'm very much in favor of using a rear bar if the front bar is 1" diameter, I think it's needed, especially if the rear tires are larger than the front tires. No rear bar is a goal on a stripped road race Camaro, but the weight balance and height is different from a street car.

Honestly I don't know what brand it was. It came with the car. The car is very balanced and handles very well so I see no reason to take it off (or not put it back on actually). I guess I'll just make some custom brackets.

Thanks
