I just picked up some new wheels (BMW) on the cheep. The fronts are 18 X 8.5 with 13mm offset or about 5.3" B.S. The rears are 19" but my main concern is with the front wheel fitment. I searched and saw there were a few here with 8.5" fronts but I wonder if my 245/40/18 tire is going to rub on the outside fender well? Here is a pic of a straight edge placed on the outside of the mounted wheel. The outside of the wheel is just about a 1/4 to a 1/2 inch inside of the fender. Is this too close to the fender or no need to worry about it .https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gifhttps://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gifhttps://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Hey, sorry I dont have any info on your wheel set up but I have seen a lot of guys run those wheels. My question is about what your motor set up is. It looks wicked. What kind of motor is it? what turbos? manifolds? ETC. Ive been thinking about doing a twin turbo set up so i was just wondering.

thanks

I should probably start another thread to detail the engine and turbo set up. The engine is 9.3 to 1 540cc BBC with a .632' lift, 244 duration @ .05 hyd roller cam. The turbos are 73 mm turbonetics sitting on home fabbed manifolds.
Still looking for some input on running a 8.5" front wheel on a 1rst gen Camaro?

Your turning radius will decrease, the tires will rub on the sub-frame when turning. I don't know how low you are going to be but may be an issue as far as fender bouncing off the tire as well when you hit a bump. This is just my HO.

If my tires end up rubbing on the frame I figure could always notch it. My goal was to set the ride height as low as possible without any rubbing or clearance issues. I have the Hotchkis 2" lowering springs in front and adjustable coilovers in the rear. As a starting point I have the car resting on blocks with the bottom of the rocker at 8.5" and that gives me 5.5" of clearance at the lowest point (oil pan) under the car.

They should fit. Mine are 18x8.5 with 15mm offset.

The tire will lightly touch the frame (behind the tire) at full lock but that's no big deal. It could be fixed with notches or simply an adjustable steering stop.

Your wheels look good, are those ADR's? I really liked the ADR BMW wheels the most but ended up going with a Stern Wheel only because they were one of the few that offered a 19" wheel (my rear) with a low 15mm offset and a black center. One problem I ran into with the Stern ST-7 wheel is that the centerbore is not deep enough to clear my hub. I had to increase the depth of the centerbore about an 1/8 of an inch.
Your car has a good stance what is the height to the bottom of your rockers? How much has it been lowered over stock?

35 spline,
i ran in to the same problem with my st-7's and a second gen. cant say if they fit on the 1 gen but are great for second gen cars. i have posted about the centerbore troubles i had and how to fix them if needed. car looks good. it looks like a clone of my 70 z. 510 cid, twin t70s, carb and 13" front rotors with single calipers.

Thanks! They are ADRs. I did not have any issues with the center bore clearing my hub but that may be due to my combo. I run a drum hub with a Vette 13" rotor. Although I've never actually measured, I think the hub protrudes less that it did with stock discs.

The car is lowered about 1.5" front and rear. The fronts are Moog 6308 springs. I can't get you a measurement to the rocker as the car is on stands going through an "under hood make-over". I'm planning to put some Hotchkis springs on before summer to lower the front a little more. My previous wheels wouldn't allow this but now that they are more tucked in, it shoudn't be a problem.
