My Wilwood rear brake kit, was the incorrect kit for a GM 12 bolt with staggered shocks (caliper was clocked to the rear, and the shock could not be installed with that configuration). Frank @ GP Superstore squared me away with the correct bracket for the driver side, so it's all reinstalled. Then I set out to install my protouring fbody.com swaybar struts and new Addco 1" swaybar. BUT, that beautiful Moser aluminum cover sticks out too far to allow the sway bar struts to swing forward, allowing the swaybar ends to be mounted to the U bolts!!! What do I do?.....get rid of the Moser cover ($160!!) or look for another sway bar.....this bar is a 6" offset bar, I wouldn't know what to use as a replacement bar.........this should have been one of those slam-dunk installations.....NOT!!...man, this is fun!!:banghead:

I'd look at modifying the lower mounts on the shock plates to move the bar to the rear a bit. Also when the car is resting on it's wheels, the bar will be sitting much lower in relation to the diff cover.

Bolt the sway bar up with the car at ride height. It'll fit just fine. It's just gonna hit the rear end cover when the rear suspension is at full droop.

I don't have any experience with axel mounted rear bars. You take a pretty big hit on unsprung weight with that set up. Sorry I can't help. For sure, check it all out at ride height.

Out of curiosity, what's the rest of the set up, e.g. spring rates of the car. A 1" bar is pretty huge.

Damn that sucks...hope I don't run into the same issue with my 55' and my new moser and hellwig sway.....

Maybe Frank will chime in for ya! :secret:

I think only second gen Camaro bars attach that way. Most bars attach to the housing, then the arms reach forward to the chassis.
I'm not all that fond of the Hotchkis second gen method either, the links attach to the floor pan just below the rear seat back.

A smaller rear bar may give you more clearance. My personal handling feel didn't like a thick rear bar. Would pick up the rear inner wheel and spin in hard sharp turns autocrossing or angled driveways. For me a factory 5/8" bar worked the best.

Clean undercarriage!!
