How do they measure DD shafts. Is it the diameter of the shaft(A) or the distance between the two flat portions(B)?

That would be "A". And the flat is something like 50% of the diameter. That is the width of the flat itself, not the distance between flats. I'll try and find it in the machinery handbook and post it if I find it. But really, it is the diameter of the shaft. Or else how would they specify a single D?

ditto rubes comments. what gets tricky is a 1" DD shaft measures 3/4" between the flats. i see alot of people who take the flat measurement & order the wrong diameter shaft.
