I'm priming my car with HOK KP2CF. The tech sheet says you can optionally thin the primer 10%. Should I thin it? The car is completely disassembled so I don't need it to flow around any moldings.

Havent sprayed HOK but from my experience with urethane primer is it lays out much better if you thin it a little.

depends on if your "filling" or using it as surfacer, also depends on gun used

I like to thin all primers the maximum amount, or more, and allow them to soak into sanding marks as opposed to "bridging" those sanding marks. Bridging is the quick way to the paint booth, but leads to shrikage later. I also like to at minumum scuff off everything with no less then 180 grit. A quick 220 scuff before primer does not hurt. Just avoid trying to prime out 80 scratches.

I thin as well, usually a little more than instructed. It allows the primer to flow better leaving a smoother surface to sand.
