I just got my 68 Bird stripped and ready full on pro touring deal. Question is what power options do you guys consider a must have. I like my cars stripped with nothing but a heater, wipers?, and killer stereo. I usually sell my cars as quick as I build them and do not want to get stuck with it in the end. I know already the Firebird deal isn't going to move as quick as a Camaro.
Most cars on this site are loaded up like Lincolns with power everything. I always though hot rods were supposed to be like choppers. Stripped bare and fast. I like the Pro Touring idea and will make it as driveable and handle as well as I can but A/C?? cruise control?? Am I wrong? I know it is my car just looking for others view point.

I wanted as few as possible so I went with just power steering. Then I wussed out a bit and added power windows.

Oh, and wipers so people would know that I am not afraid to drive in the rain..

do what YOU want and not what people think belongs in a genra... if noone did then pro-touring wouldnt exist....

Sounds good to me. I even went so far as to hide my stereo.

My car will have power steering, wipers and that's about it. Fixed back seats, no heat or A/C, a very small stereo (if any), manual brakes (dual m/c w/ balance bar), etc.

I think I'll supplement the extra weight of power items with more engine power. I wanna take it on long trips as well as track days so I think I'll have PS, PB, A/C, stereo, MAYBE power seats (but not even close to getting to that point yet) and wipers. Just enough that I can take it wherever I want and be impressed. My daily driver is a 2003 truck and I want my PT car to outperform that thing in ALL areas if I can. I want the options of the new cars (I'm just spoiled that way) and the style of the old body.

I think a lot of Hot Rod based cars are just getting too serious and complicated. I rememeber the thing to do was rip all that stuff out and throw in a big block and have fun. Don't get me wrong I like the idea of both but for some reason I have a bug up my ass this time to make the most stripped down fun car I can make with some real quality not a rattle box. It will be based on a Hot Wheels type car. Probably candy lime green with a black vinyl top and white interior. I will substitute heated seats for the heater. An electronic front and rear defog system. A single blade wiper conversion which is in process. A hidden killer stereo. Otherwise it will be bare bones and carburated. The idea is to have fun keep the budget under$25k and have anybody over the age of 10 be able to tinker with it. No computers needed. Heck I might even put the red stripes on the low profile tires. First Pro Tourer full tilit car for me but I have to add a little different flare. Pics of renderings will be posted within a few weeks. Maybe a cup holder for my Starbucks runs. Thanks Brian

thats what pro-touring is about.... making an old car perform like a 60k new one... if not better.
