Rick Wagoner, GM's Chairman/CEO hits the top spot..numero uno.. up from #2 in 07 and #10 in 06. The REAL car guy Bob Lutz comes in at #4.up from #7. What is really cool is Ed Welburn, Tony Trapin's boss, is in at a lofty #8 up from #13. He is GM VP for global design..they are even daring to compare Welburn to Harley Earl and Billl Mitchell..pretty rarified air there. There are many more GM execs on the list. In fact they had more on there than any other manufacturer. Poor old Ford just didn't fare as well..One surprise to me was the UAW president Ron Gettelfinger coming in at #16 from a rookie position before of not even being on the list. His claim to fame. He settled the strikes quickly and he took over the health care benefits thru voluntary employee benefit associations. Let's see if that works..Kinda sounds like the fox guarding the henhouse to this country boy..

The best part of Ed Welburn being on that list is he's one of the good guys. He's a very warm and pleasant guy and always has time to talk with you if you ever stop him in the hall way. I'm a big Ed Welburn fan and I'm proud to be working for him again (as of January 1st). The last guy we had in here (Wayne Cherry) became so dense that towards the end of his career it was said that light was beginning to bend around him everywhere he walked.
