I havent been on in a While but here is what happened I PCS'd to savannah GA and was starting in on my 67 camaro and met this guy larry williams of LBW engines and decided to give him a shot so I sent him $4500.00 and my carb,dist, and air cleaner for the dyno and tune he then informed me to keep the rest of the money for when he would be finished so 2 months go by his phone is disconnscted wont reply to e-mails so what can I do? In the meantime I purchased an engine from ARRACING that ships out monday the 7th and so far my experience with them has been awesome. One other thing where do I start first on converting a pro-street to pro-touring?:ripped:

I would love to but I am afraid I would end up in jail plus I work for gulfstream and do the weekend gaurdsman thing but I had found his house for sale and got word he was trying to move to california and last I heard he was in north port FL

YEP got all the paperwork but the sherrifs dept said it was a civil matter and would have to take him to court

Keeping a cool head and paying a visit would be my suggestion.

Don't go alone on that visit. Bring a few friends. If it still doesn't work then it's time to contact a lawyer. You don't walk away from $4500.

As far as where to start on your conversion. The sky is pretty much the limit. I would start with the biggest thing that seperates a Pro-Touring car from a Pro-Street and that's the suspension.

And for that visit our suspension forum. Plenty of people in there that will be happy to help you along.

I second take a few friends. No, not to intimidate or threaten. You confront him and you introduce your eye witnesses as such. Be up front, straight forward, and cool about it. Tell him straight to his face you want $4500 cash with in 48 hours(he can do a wire transfer is you have to find him out of town) or you're suing. I certainly wouldn't walk away from $4500 either.

Sounds to me like you're not really motivated to get your $4500 back. Try your attorney general's office. The police sound like they don't want to do the paperwork. Make them file a robbery/theft report.

I sent larry $4500 for a 383 stroker, is that what you bought? I was told by Larry he was moving to Califonia and that he was moving at the end of December - beginning of January.. But I also have not been able to get ahold of him either by phone or E-mail.. I was thinking of giving him until the end of January and then taking action. But I don't know how to go about it, seeings how I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

you should be able to get him arrested on felony charges. It's actually an easier case to prosecute than if you had recieved some of the goods. If the 'personal' calls failed, start with the local police and go from there.

Small Claims Court handles matters up to $5,000. I'd find out where he is, sue him in that area's small claims court, file electronically if you can, pay the fee to have him served, and do it that way. No lawyers are necessary or even allowed. He'll probably (hopefully) pay you back before court, but if he doesn't, you've got a pretty clear-cut case, and if you win, you've got 10yrs or so to collect the judgment (plus interest).

Getting ripped off sucks, but there are legal options that can work. Calls to the Attorney General, and to the local news networks in his area might also be a good idea. Nothing local anchormen like more than embarrassing scam artists on camera.

small claims court will not get your money back. It's only a judgment and he can ignore it. Once he dies, you can make claim to money owed though.

I'm pretty sure they will set up a structured payment. Sucks for you because it may be as little as 50 bucks a month. If he doesnt pay, he should face jail time.

Either way, it sucks to be you in this situation. sorry to hear about it. If he did in fact do it to more than one person, I believe its a much more serious crime. He will be facing jail time no matter what then.
