i did not weigh them. the largest was 19" and smallest was 14". it was on a 30 acre private lake. so eating size is all that matters :)

ST, I gotta get up there. Down here on the coast it's all about salt water. I like it, it's fun becaues I have friends with plenty of boats but I grew up bass and crappie fishing and it is pretty much non-existant on the coast.
What are some good lakes up there? I heard about Sardis but that is almost near Memphis I think.

Nice catch, bass aren't very common around here. I have caught a few though.
Are they good to eat? How do you prepare them to cook?

You guy's eat Largemouth? I didn't know anyone that did. I love catching them but most people here in Michigan just throw em back. Are they any good eating. I've never tried them.
Glad to see another angler on here. In the Summer we mostly go for Lake Trout and Chinook on the big water and also Yellow Perch. We smoke the trout and chinook and the Perch get battered and deep fried. Nothing like a big ole plate of fresh caught yellows straight out of the fryer with a nice slice of lemon to go with em. Mmmm...Mmmm. I could eat em till I pass out.
Unfortunately I'm gonna miss doin' that this year.

Bass are the best when they are baked in a butter /beer /lemon garlic. There are many recipes but I like the beer the best. Deep fried is good too!

i would not call my self an "angler" by any means. My neighbor is a retired lawyer with a private 30 acre "pond" that only get fished a few times a year. we were bream fishing with ultra lite rods and 4# line with bream jigs. these were biting instead. we caught them all on 4# line. it was a fun challenge.
I have never eat bass but my father in law (the chef) says they will taste great monday night :)

I really don't know why we throw them back. I had always heard that they were primarily a game fish and not very good for eating. It might be a geographical thing. Here in the Great Lakes watershed the primary game species are; Perch, Walleye, Pike, Musky, Trout, Salmon, Whitefish, and Steelhead. We have our share of Largemouth but there's no body of water here that is known for their Largemouth fishery. Lake St. Clair is nationally none for both it's Musky and Smallmouth population. I remember a years back when we would troll in the early morning hours for Walleye we would constantly hit schools of Smallmouth. Voracious fighters they are, but I never kept a single one. People just don't eat them around here. But damn are they fun to catch, especially the Largemouth when they break water.

I think that they are every bit as good as a walleye. But that is my opinion, and alot of others around here! LOL

we over in ok fry them just like catfish...delicious...bass are always fun cause they fight good
I've cooked them a few times but catch and release is what I like now. Those Large Mouth put up a good fight and it's just relaxing being on the water.

WOW....car guys that fish too....thought I was the only one. Nice catch........and trapin , I've caught hundreds and hundreds of Largemouth in my time, but never have eaten one, either. I am what most consider a Sport Fisherman....."Catch n Release", let someone else catch them another day....they gave me a good fight, let them get bigger and give someone else a better fight someday!! Walleye and Jumbo Perch are THE best eating around here, but hard to beat Steelhead!!! for the fight AND the taste.

I went up to Chris' (SatisTraction) and saw that "pond". The thing is AMAZAZAZING. It is quite literaly a lake. Beautiful little valley and nice banks. Wish I would've took my pole and had more daylight.
