I have a 69 camaro on here. I love my car to death but i want it it lower.
Currently i have two inch drop coils from hotchkis in the front to lower it. and reproduction Z28 leafs int the back. id like to lower it another inch or two all the way around. How would i go about doing that?
is it even possible to lower a leaf spring set up?

Bunch of companies make after market leafs that will lower the rear. DSE has a 2" and 3", Global West a 1.25", and Hotchkis has a 1.5" lowering leaf spring. If you want to keep it cheap you could always add a lowering block.

Most suspension shops can de-arch your leafs. They take them apart, heat them up and de-arch them to lower them. For the fronts I guess you could cut the coils a bit.

Like stated above, you could cut the coils up front for some drop on the cheap, or you could convert to ATS AFX spindles if you currently have the stockers on there. The AFX spindle will net you another 7/8" drop in theory, give or take, plus gives you C5/C6 brakes without any adapting necessary...this is assuming you have wheels that will clear C5/C6 brakes.

I have a set of DSE 2'' drop leaf's that i am not going to use if you'd like.

this makes me wonder, because when i swapped from the original single leaf spring to the reproduction Z28 springs my car dropped about two inches. So do the DSE springs lower it in addition to that or so is that lowering number in comparisson with stock ride hieght for a mono leaf?

Just cut an inch out of your front springs and add a lowering block to the rear end. Will cost you just about nothing and get you were you want to be. Couldn't be easier or cheeper.

so i found some lowering blocks from belltech for 40 bucks...
how exactly do the lowering blocks work? Will this have any adverse affect on my suspension?

I agree if its only an inch you are after. With a 1 inch block you should be fine. I usually will not got larger than 2 inch. You can also remove two of the lower leafs off of the stock Z-28's.
Using a block basically raises your rear axle housing off of the leaf spring. Which raises the tire up closer to the body.

oh... thats pretty sneaky how that works... i like it. I think ill get some for the rear... i heard that cutting the coils to lower the front is bad and can cause the springs to feel weird or handle different. any thouhts on this?

Cutting springs is a perfectly legit way to lower a car. Heating them is NOT. Of course the cheapest solution is just make a bunch of fat friends and cruise around with them.

Cutting them in not too bad, but it does increase the spring rate when you cut them. One concern if you cut them. Since they are already a 2" drop you need to be concened about your bump travel when you cut them.
