Do you work for Consumer Reports or is shilling for Toyota just a hobby?

No different than others here trying to convince us GM is perfect and never looses money or has recalls or has any mechanical/warranty issues!

True to a point. My problem is with the subjective opinions that get tossed around like they are supposed to mean something.

By the way GM's reported #1 LOL

I thought they would be doing so good from all the Mustang sales?

This is what happens when one company spends money on building quality cars while the other spends money on advertising programs saying "Quality is Job 1".

If that ugly-ass Camaro they've just unveiled over at fastlane.gmblogs.com is really going to take the place of the original prototype we've been drooling about for a couple of years now, it may not be too long before GM's sucking Toyota's exhaust as well.

That's probably why Toyota hasn't brought back the Supra yet. No need to completely rub the domestic manufacturers nose in it.

Nissan just re'd the Skyline and its coming to USA....it may not be long till a Supra comes back to. One thing I will give GM they are putting out some HP cars,Ford needs to step up the level of the Stang before the new Fbody.

I dont know man...that Camaro looks pretty good to me and keeps getting better. Im really liking it more than I thought I would when they first introduced it. Question will be...will I ever be able to afford one except the V6 version?!!! haha!

Hmmm.....I hope you're not talking about me. I've never said GM was perfect or didn't lose money or have recalls. I only post stories to show that Toyota isn't perfect either. But I'm sure glad they came here and kicked our ass because now we're building the best cars we ever have in our 100 years. Ford has just been a little slow to learn the lessons that we have. They'll get it eventually. And if they don't...then they get what they deserve.

I wanted to respond to the thread in the title, but it was closed. This one is the closest to it.

-How would people feel if it was a European car company dominating US sales? Probably nothing.

-Do you guys realize how international foreign policy and foreign trade laws play a role in how the US does business with other countries or how it affects businesses from other countries here in the US?

-Do you guys realize how expensive it is for a large international company to do business here in the US?

-Do you think that almost every American involved has their hand out when it comes to an international company doing business here? Do you think they're NOT getting paid? With all the comments about "all the profits going back to Japan", how accurate do you think your statements are? The cost of doing business here is more than you will ever imagine.

-Did you know that Toyota is not completely union free and that there Torrance warehouse is a union shop?

-Do you think a UAW worker making $35/hour is not enough to live in the midwest or the southeast? I wish I was making $35 ****in' dollars an hour!!

-Honda's warehouse workers in the Southeast earn around $20 an hour. Do yo think that ain't enough to make a decent living in that region? Greedy ****s nowadays just want to live beyond their means, spend more than they can afford, then blame it on the hand that feeds them that they ain't making enough...and think they need a union. Before you judge my comment, I worked for the Teamsters Union Local 572 for United Parcel Service and enjoyed that job and it's benefits very much.

-There are a lot of aspects of our capitalistic economic model and how it is affecting this country's current economic state that people don't understand about enough to make educated statements for or against a foreign company doing business here.

-I'm born and raised here in SoCal of Japanese descent. My dad was born in NorCal in Lodi, CA. My mom is from Japan. Just get tired of all the haters who don't even know for sure what they're talking about. People just make statements out of pure hatred...not necessarily this thread or fourm. Don't you frikkin' judge me...

For once I have to say I agree with you completely.
GM has come a LONG way from the downturn it took. But they don't quite have
the longevity factor working in their favor just yet. Once they have a reputation
of a large % of their vehicles lasting over 150,000 miles without major overhauls
needed or electrical shorts, I'll be happy to back them completely.

The new Saturn Aura, the new Malibu, the new Silverado (gorgeous)
Aesthetics , GM has never really failed IMO. Always had better interiors too.
The problem came in reliability.....I'm hoping these new vehicles change that history.
Over 100,000 miles they tended to fall apart. Some make it no problems....but too
many didn't, and that's where the reputation got soiled.

One thing I'm seeing alot lately on the roads is I notice many of the lower priced GM
cars have electrical problems where I'm watching peoples interior gauge lights and tail lights
flickering. Not sure if it's a grounding issue, but now my 80,000 mile 2000 GMC Jimmy
is experiencing it. :(

All in all I absolutely LOVE the new Camaro and what Cadillac/Buick has done
to their divisions as well.

The 2008 CTS is going to be my next 2nd owner purchase. (I never buy brand new)
I wanted a 2009 Camaro......but I'm 33 now and I own a 2nd gen.....I'm really liking that
new CTS too much to consider anything else right now. Seen one in all black ....I about
got into an accident cuz I was drooling out the window at it.

Toyota / Honda have done QUITE well for themselves. I wouldn't hesitate even considering
owning one from this point forward. The only thing lacking IMO was style for a few years.
Reliability has always been there. It's not unheard of for either of those 2 to go 200,000
miles without major mechanical overhauls being necessary like many GM vehicles needed. (Trans rebuilds etc)

Just get tired of all the haters who don't even know for sure what they're talking about. People just make statements out of pure hatred...not necessarily this thread or fourm. Don't you frikkin' judge me...

Well said. I agree with you.
