Hey Everyone,

I am in the market for a cowl hood for a 68 firebird. All the ones I've seen so far look odd... does anyone have any suggestions and/or pics of some cowl hoods that will fit?

My first choice would be a steel cowl hood, but I think that stops at the camaros. No love for the pontiacs!

any help would be greatly appreciated

the only thing I dont like about the glass-tek is it has a teardrop shape, and I'm not really feeling it. I found a 3.5" hood on e-bodyparts.com, but I dont know about the quality. the closest I found to what I'm looking for is made by VFN fiberglass:https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2008/01/franksfirebird-1.jpg

I know VFN is good quality. Be prepared to wait..............a while................... if it doesn't happen to be in stock.

Yuck. Do you really need all of that clearance?

Those shapes just don't go together. A cowl hood screams Chevy. The beauty of the Pontiac front is the nose flowing into the hood. That just ruins it.

This is a 1969 Trans Am hood from Glasstek, and it screams Pontiac and is cool.

ODD, yeah, that is one of the words I would use to describe that hood on that car......if I was being really nice.....:hand:

Horrible would be a better choice of words though. Cowl hoods just don't go on Pontiacs IMO. I don't know where to point you but please, not this one.....

glass tech hase a 2 inch raised hood on the 69 gto hood to house a victor manifold , but it keeps the origenal lines and looks . im pretty sure you can have them do the same thing for the 67/68 hood........

This is a hood that might be a little more stealth for you.

I agree 100%, but the problem is I have a motor that is very tall. I would love to keep the stock hood, or use a 400 hood. I feel like I backed myself into a corner

Check out the picture of this firebird from the First Gen. Firebird site. It might be what you are after.

Please don't say your putting a Chevy in it!

That web site I posted said you could fit a victor intake with the extra 1.5 inches. The one on the first gen site looks awasome.

If your options are limited I would modify a stock flat steel one and rais the center for what you need.
