I know most of the guys on here have dreamed about one day opening up their own hot rod shop and I thought it would be cool if we could get some imput from some of the pros on here and they could let us know what it takes to really get it together and start your own shop. How many employees did you start with? Did you specialize in anything to get into the industry? What was your biggest obstacle to overcome in starting your business? What would you recommend to somebody trying to work their way into the business? Is there anything you would have changed on your path to where you are now?

Well as with any new business especially one that requires buying all kinds of stuff you'll need capital and lots of it! Sooo if your wealthy to start out with that helps!
and as far as prospering in the automotive industry, everyone that I know of thats successful was known for doing quality work, not cutting corners and try tried again if they're customer wasn't satisfied. So it helps to have a large base of people who either know you or have benefitted from your quality work and will bring you business via word of mouth.
Lastly of course, you have to segment your market, if you try to be all things to everyone then you will ultimately fail. So if you can successfully identify your target market and where you want to go then you'll be a lot better off, so specializing in a particular field is deffinitly to your advantage and the more education or experience you and your employees have in that field the better.
