Hey my name is Ken I am comming over from the heads up racing crowd. I am, I mean more like (my friend is) building a pro-touring car out of my new Grabber Blue 70 Mustang Fastback.
Here some "as purchased" photos.

Thanks guys, right now the only thing left on the car is the rear end and the glass!
It needs to be done this spring!
Anyone have any suggestions for a new front end I am leaning towards the Rod and Custom Mustang II with coil overs, it seems to be the best value.
Thanks again.

I’m no expert but, I’ve been asking the same questions about front suspensions. MII front ends use to be a good upgrade due to aftermarket product availability but, now there’s a great after market to upgrade your existing suspension. I say up-grade the stock suspension, it should perform just as good if not better than the MII. I’ve attached a few links & pics of products that I’ve been looking into buying for my car.

Those RRS lower arms look pretty cool. I just ordered upper and lower arms from Maier racing, they offer both stock and reinforced like those RRS arms. They are having a 10% off sale until the end of the year. Another place to look is opentrackerracing products. He offers several different setups, track, street, autocross, etc. If you do not go the coilover route, His roller spring perches are very nice units.

Thanks, Plans are to have this done this spring I need quick gratification!
A new front suspension, looking at options on that, I want it as low as it is now, but with 17's or 18's.
Upgrade brakes to disc, I would like 13's but we'll see.
The car came with a 9" with 31 spline and 4:11'S. That should be allset.
I have stage II Ported TFS TW with Titanium retainers and nice valve train that where on my blown race car. Those will fit nice on a 347 or 408. The 408 would be choice except the CR will be high unless I do custom pistoms $.
It had an AOD but I gota ROW the gears in this car. A TKO 500 or 600 depending on which engine I choose.
The interoir will get Steering wheel, Autometer Gauges, a streo system and new seats and complete repop.
Can't wait.

I have been looking at these systems also, they are nice for getting 13" brakes because they can use late model right? But these are like $3000.00 just for the arms, coil overs and spindles.

Where as the MII systems are complete with brakes, coilovers and Power Rack for the same price, and you can fit a bigger engine. I will check the Opentrack website though.
Thanks for the ideas.

re: suspension, the TCP stuff has a really good reputation, but is very spendy. of course, all the options are $$$, so that is pretty much a wash. the MII has a lower up front cost, but requires a good bit of fab.
people often talk about the MII set up not having good handling characteristics, but 1) I've never seen any quantitative data, and 2) it is
never clear if they are talking about a stock MII or aftermarket set up.
unless you need to get rid of the shock towers, it is probably cheaper
in the long run to go with bolt on parts like TCP or GW.
for reference, this is a 13" rotor with 18" rims. A 17" rim looks like it would clear also. the suspension is Total Control coilover with the upper shock mount shortened 1" to get at this height.

You can get the uppers, lowers and strut rods for around $1k, MII is almost $3k if you want 13" brakes and then the cost/labor of installing it, where the other is a simple swap. Another good site to check out is http://www.mustangsteve.com/ he makes/sells brackets to mount late model, PBR calpers on the early spindles, which is a CHEAP way to add 13" rotors.
If you do go the MII setup, make sure you find one that uses strut rods, there was a post the other day on here or another forum (I forget which) that the front end on a street rod broke away because there was no strut rods. http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/ifs-failure-tragic-results-127985.html

The Grabber Blue paint is about 90% its an older paint job but looks good. I am doing everything but that for now.
