Hey, I'm new to Pro-Touring.com but I'm a long time Camaro fan! My next project is a 1969 ProTouring Camaro with an LS1, T-56, 4'th gen Firebird seats/console, and whatever else I can manage to put into the car. She'll probably have an aftermarket subframe, or I may make a full frame for her, not sure yet. I’m also considering adding a C4 IRS rearend into it. I've read up on Wayne Due's IRS kit, but I’m not sure if he went out of business or what but I cant find anyone offering the kit anymore. As far as I can tell, I think it’s just as simple as welding two mounting brackets onto the rear framerails for the carriage assembly to bolt to the frame, and two more brackets for the control arm to attach to the front of the frame.
I'm interested in seeing if anyone else has done this and how hard it is to do. Pictures would be awesome if anyone’s got them. Thank you in advance!

I was thinking how great it would be to do a IRS on my 80 camaro... But how? haha. Where are all the experts out there? Help us out!

While you are researching all the subframe choices out there, check out the full frame from gmachinechassis.com I had asked the boss about the possibility of adding a C4 style IRS to the chassis and we couldn't see why not. So I guess you could order the frame without the rear end or mounts welded on and fab up the IRS stuff. Or you could have us do it before it gets shipped out to you. I'm all for it, and have been wanting to see if it can be done for a while now.

Not sure where ya'll guys are from, but my 68 is under going the sam thing as we speak. I am in NC and a guy named Jay Marshall is doing mine. Install is 85 C-4 and mini tubs and a "road racing style" cage all the way to the front. My 17x11's are tucking into the rear quarters and it should be finished after Christmas. I'll post pics as soon as I can.
Just my two cents!! I think he's wanting to start a full frame kit as well.
Thanks,
Mike aka juveteach
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!!

How do I go about ordering that kit from you. I visited your site and there weren't a lot of specifics about your kits... Can you add some info about the 2nd gen kit you are making... Spring rates and such? or will those not be included in the kit?

I haven't started the kits for the 80 yet (second Gen). So I have no info at the moment to share. My 80 is in California and I'm in Michigan. Will not be bringing it to Michigan untill close to spring and will be working out the details then. I will post the kit or you can send me your e-mail address and I will keep you updated on the progress. I'm still finalizing my kit for the First gens. I haven't gotten much done since moving to Michigan. Still setting up my shop hope to be back on track this month.
Thanks

Hi Daz, I have the frame section of my kit out of my car and I'm having a fixture made so that I can make more of them without having to install it in a car each time I build one. I hope to be finished with the fixture and be able to manufacture them easily in March ~ April time frame. I was working with Wayne on this before he closed his doors.
Send me your email address and I'll keep you updated with my progress.
Thank you for your interest,

I'll have pictures up in another week or two. I built this kit around the DANA 36 and I'm looking for a donor DANA 44 to build the 44 kit. I'll keep you up dated.
I have purchased a 70 Z28 and will be using it to build a kit for the second Gen Camaros (along with my 80 Camaro). The plan would be to have the kits available after the first of the year.

Hey Guys I didn't finalize the kit I was working on. I switched jobs a little over a year ago and just don't have the time to put into it. I travel every week between 12 States. So I don't have anything I can offer.
Thanks,

Not that I would discourage anyone from installing a Dana 36 or 44 in the back of their Camaro but I can say if you plan to put power to it, its not the best solution. We easily did this on 335 street tires with our LS7. If you stay under 500 HP they work pretty well.

Here are the upgraded Chromoly axles that you can get from Mark Williams though. We haven't broken these yet. Just something to keep in mind if you are thinking about installing one of these systems.

I don't know if that is possible....... We looked really hard and didn't see any good way to do it other than the way we did it.
