A french stunt team did it with a little fiat and some kind of cable that gave the car a yank as it left the ramp..not sure if the landing was clean tho.

I've seen the Off road trucks Just about blow-over on some jumps when the air gets under the hood.....Not hard to imagine this working...

I believe it is possible I’ve done it with a 10th scale RC race truck.
The key to the success of this trick lies within the ramp & driver skill. The ramp is built w/ the specific geometry calculations using physics to predict the stunt outcome. The driver has control of the throttle. The wheels and tires act as big gyroscopes and store alot of rotational energy in them, the bigger and heavier the wheel/tire the more energy they store. The driver can stab the throttle just after the truck leaves the lip of the ramp so the gyroscopic effect of the tires can pull the truck around executing a complete backflip. He also should try to get the truck to land flatly on all four tires as this will even out the impact among all the tires/shocks and makes it much more controllable upon landing.
You can see in this video how he manipulates the rotation of the truck with the throttle.

We used to try (some more successfully than others) to do that with our RC nitro cars and trucks back in college. I never could get my 2wd to do a back flip, but some of the 4wd T-Maxx trucks could. Front flips actually seemed easier, just jam on the brakes mid-air!
I haven't had RC stuff for a while - brings back good/expensive memories.
I'm going to tune in to see how he does in the full-sized truck??????

Yes, expensive. I still have my T-Maxx but I need to sell it because I haven't played w/ it in about 3 years.
