I'm picking up my car tomorrow after getting blasted. The guy that is going to prime had me pickup the primer and activator tonight. The primer is 2k acrylic urethane, would this be ok on bare metal and hold up for a year or two until I get the paint and bodywork done? Thanks for the help.

nope You need a epoxy primer to go over bare metal or you can metal etch first then use your urethane but the epoxy is best

I'd use the epoxy primer. Etching primer has limitations as to what goes on top and I don't think it seals out moisture.

You are right etch primer will not seal out moisture but the urethane will. seems much easier to just put a coat of the epoxy on than to etch prime then put the urethane on.

Dustin,

Just curious as I am in the OKC area as well. Who did you have blast your car? Approximately how much did it cost if you don't mind me asking.

Thanks,

Dave

It cost me $600 cash at A&A drystrip. This is without doors, trunk lid, any frontend sheetmetal, and they didn't do the undercarriage.
