everyone ask about how close it it. It is CLOSE but it does fit. to make it easier i have the center link out of the steering. I test fit the engine complete but after painting the firewall i decided to put the engine back in and then install the heads.
firewall to passenger head. the divers side has plenty of room. updated here is the new pics. 7/8" clearance. with the tranny 3* down

Wow, that's close.
Trying to route the engine wiring harness behind the head looks impossible. It also looks pretty challenging to attach the knock sensor and oil pressure wiring with the intake installed.

i retaped my harness so it comes out behind the drives head and goes right into the firewall. works great. all sensors are easy. i removed the factory oil pressure sensor and put the autometer sensor there.
is your trans attached? the engine looks tilted.

tranny is attached but it just has the jack under the rear. i can actually raise or lower my tranny 6" or more and never have a problem. I do have solid body mount bushings which help me some. the "ears" on my tranny never hit, the top hits 1st.
right now i am using a modifed th400 mount but i may try to make my version of the ATS mount. i have an idea in my head but i have not made it yet. two 1" 90* parts per side like the ATS one 90* to a flat 3/8" plate. then have it so you can raise or lower the tranny and weld it to a mount on the frame.
the th400 mount was easy. I jsut cut about 9" out of the center. took a peice of 1/4x4" plate about 9" long and welded a plate to the sides to form a L____I I then welded that into the notch that i cut out. simple and works great. it jsut does not have much "bling" effect to it.

I jacked the engine up until the tailhousing was 3* down and the gap has opened up to 1" or so. I will get some new pics up. :firefire:

how close is your alternator to the frame stand? i remember seeing pics on rodders page where the alternator was smashed against the frame stand.

it is close but it is not going to be a problem. I did notch a small section of my subframe to clear the bottom of the alternator. here are some more pics of the fit up.

awesome pictures.
i am considering moving my engine back as well. i could kick myself for denting up my hooker headers for the other plates.
i just took a look at my alternator to frame gap. there is none! looks like my alternator is touching the subframe with the car shop mounts.
