Got my front subframe off last night. Now don't know where to start. I'm a 22 year old college kid with two kids, so there is a bit of a budget. Here is my plan and some ?'s

1. Use stock upper/lower control arms with new polyurethane bushings, stock height disc brake spindles, detroit speed 2" drop springs, koni shocks.

2. Is there a way to use coilovers with the stock upper/lower control arms?

3. If i buy 2" dropped spindles then the 2" lowering springs, will this give me 4" of drop?

You can get coil overs that work with the stock suspension. Also you should read the suspension stuff stickied above this for a few answers.

I think you need to provide more info, so the recommendations of the group is more relevant. Are you building a daily driver, cruiser, scca racer?

Year make model would help alot.

Just trying to build a cruiser. Will never be raced or autocrossed. It is a 67 camaro.

You can get coil overs for your camaro but I pretty sure you will have to at least modify your Lower Arms to get the coil overs to mount up right.

I am building a 68 Firebird and our frames are the same Im going with Global west Upper and Lower arms. I am also using Varishock coil overs.

Stay away from QA1 coil-overs they will cause you headaches and money down the road.

I know your budget is tight but you might want to look for a lower arm designed for coilovers

As for you 4 inch drop question I am not sure but I would be careful you don't bottom out

If using stock upper control arms consider doing a Guldstrand Modification....do a search if needed. All you need to do that is a drill and a basic grinder. This will help basic handling a bunch and it 's cheap!
