Hey guys. I have a 67 firebird and putting in a 97 corvette LS1. I have a complete engine harness with computer and a corvette pedal assembly. My question is, has anybody done this in their car. If so what does it take! Any info would be greatly apreciated.
Thanks, Jeff

what info do you need? A good start would be to go to www.ls1tech.com and look at the conversion forum. They have a pretty good list of info in a sticky about what needs to be done. Your gonna need a conversion oil pan check out www.autokraft.com or moroso p/n 20140. street and performance www.hotrodlane.cc has everything necessary for the conversion including motor mount brackets and wiring harnesses for the change. If you have never done a fuel injection conversion I would highly recommend spending the money on a harness. They arent cheap at arount 900 dollars but they are already setup for the application. I do this for a living and it takes me about 16 hours to correctly rework the harness and get it resized for the car. This includes setting up the fuses (you need 7 of em) on a panel and getting the stuff mounted up. I assure you that it will take you longer and hopefully youre careful or else things may not work right. This isnt what Id consider a really hard conversion but on a scale of 1-10 Id give it a 6 or 7 with doing a TPI conversion being a 3 and swapping a german motor a 9 or 10 for comparison. So yeah get the pan, the mounting plates, a conversion harness and a reprogrammed computer and make your life alot easier. These things will save you at least 40 hours of work. Oh and you will also need all the fuel system stuff taken care of. Get a warboro 225lph fuel pump and run lines for that and a return. If you have any real specific question shoot me a PM

Thanks for the info. Sorry I should have been more specific. I have all of the machanical stuff for the swap taken care of. I just need to know how to make the drive by wire setup work.Thinking I probly need a reworked dash harness too.
Thanks again, Jeff

the dash can stay stock. However youll need to do some mods to get the speedo to work. If you switch over to aftermarket gauges then its all very easy. The DBW is built into the engine harness and has a jumper harness that connects the pedal to the TAC module. This module you should have and mounts next to the PCM on vettes. Beyond that if you get the custom harness all you gotta do is hook up bat, ign, ground and fuel pump. You get a speedo and tach output though that you hook up if you get an electronic speedo and a tach. Its very straight forward and nothing you need to worry about. It is expensive but you gotta pay to play!!
