Hello everyone, I am excitied to join the site and check out all the projects. I'm going to be digging into this 1964 Fleetside short bed Chevy truck. It will recieve a 408LS engine and AirWerks turbo, 4l80e trans, C5 Corvette front cradle and most likely a dana 60 rear axle. I'll be getting started in a month or two. Any input is welcome!

I like the project!

Nice username also. Not Lean, Not Rich - just right (stoichiometric)

Brings back memories of Thermodynamics during my undergrad.

Keep us updated on the truck. That is one of my favorite body styles.

Sounds like a cool project. My first "car" was a 64 chevy C-10. Learned a lot blowing up parts in that thing ha ha.

Looking forward to watching your progress.

nice project, I love those mid '60s trucks! I've been curious about those, also mid 60s F100s, even mid engine econolines and dodge A100s too! (yeah, I can't make up my mind, I'm used to my wife doing that for me...)

I have 2 project vehicles and 1 is a 62 Chevy C-10 shortbed Fleetside. It has the big rear window and wrap around front. I am looking to drop it onto a 63-66 frame soon. My first project is a 68 Camaro that I am trying to focus the majority of my time on, but every now and then when the Camaro is out of new parts to install, I jump over to the C-10 to wrench on it and to keep me busy.

I just dropped off the 61 dual head light grill to get it chromed. I will post some pic's when I get it back in 4-6 weeks. I also just picked up the reworked Speedometer from Redline gauges. It came out real nice! I am at work right now, but will post some picks later tonight.

Compared to the 68 Camaro project, the C-10 is so much cheaper to buy parts for!

The 64-66 are much easier to get re-poped parts for! The links below will get you all kinds of stuff.

Here are some before and after pic's of the instrument cluster for my 62 C-10 project. The picture of your truck from the first post looks way more complete than mine! I only have the sheet metal from end to end. All of my sheetmetal (cab, fenders, doors, hood ... etc) is straight, but I still have a long ways to go before I am finished.

Good Luck on your project and keep us posted!

Nice guage cluster. I like it.

On my 64 I had ended up replacing the guage cluster with an aluminum plate for autometer guages but I like the classic vibe yours has.

I like the idea of a pro touring truck, I have been tossing around the idea of doing something like that to tow my other toys with.

A Duramax/Alison would be a pretty cool swap for a tow truck. Not so good for handling though.

When I picked up my 62 C-10, one thing stood out compared to my 68 Camaro project. COST!

It is gonna be much cheaper for me build a nice truck than to build my 68 Camaro. The C-10 interior is much simpler. No headliner and no fabric door panels. Just carpet and a bench seat! I am not adding any elec windows, just old school manual. Just gonna keep it simple. If I went hog wild I am sure I can spend crazy money, but my Camaro is gonna get all of the new bells and whistles and the C-10 is gonna look more sleeper/classic with better handling and performance.

See the pic's below of some trucks I found on the web.
