Well...drove the Jag (currently has a 305 w/HEI ign, carb) yesterday for the 1st time in months.

On the freeway on-ramp and the sucker sputtered and died. Had to get towed home.:hand:

At any rate, sucker will NOT START! Didn't have spark before, so I replaced the HEI module. B&B auto parts tested it and said it was dead. Bought a new Accel one.

Now I have spark (shocked me good testing it) but STILL won't start. Have plenty of fuel (removed the fuel line and it pumped fuel for sure). Just turns and turns.

So...do you think I might've jumped a tooth on the timing set? Only thing I can think of. Haven't checked the rotor position at TDC yet so I'll see if it at #1 plug wire.

I doubt it's the coil in the cap since I have spark.

my innitial thought is timing chain! if all it does is crank and crank.

I'll check the timing as well do a compression test.

I forgot to mention that I saw water steaming when I pulled over and the temp gauge was in the middle. I might've blown a head gasket. I guess you can't start a car if you have lousy compression.

are you sure you didn't flood the hell out of it?

Okay, some new news.

Now I have no fuel! Weird. Before, I had fuel pumping out. Now I don't!

Sure it's not a clogged line. I ran some air through the line and I heard gurgling in the tank.

So...I'm replacing the fuel pump to see what that does.

Well...replaced the pump. still no worky.

However, I just recalled; these crazy Jags has this "inertia switch" which is supposed to trip if you get into an accident, which prevents fuel coming into the lines from the tank via some switching valve.

Sure enough, the sucker was tripped. Pressed the button...CAR STARTED AND RAN! Dammit! Replaced the pump for nothing. Oh well...got a spare now. It was only $18.00 for the pump.
