I am going to drop in a stroked 454 Big Block (496ci) - GEN VI Block. It will be going in my 67 Camaro RS/SS. I am looking for a nice set of coated headers and wanted some recommendations. I don't want to bang them to "make them fit". My dad went with Doug's on his 68 Camaro but he said the collectors hang pretty low. Other than that he was happy with them.
Looking for some recommendations...

I have Dougs on my 68 big block, I whent with the shorty type for clearance reasons, they fit nice and are high quality parts.

If you have raised exhaust ports then Lemons Headers makes some killer headers. They can make them to fit your application. Not cheap but worth it in my opinion.

Yeh... The Lemons Headers look nice, but at $1175 without coating those are some expensive mofos!

have you looked at the Patroits, by Pertronics # HB012-1, I am pleased with the coating, they have a heavy well made Flange, these are 3/4 length, I didn't want a header down below the pan, these fit well, get most of the benefit of a full length, with out them hanging down dragging the ground, never fails to be at a cruise-in and have to deal with a speed-bump !Used on a BB 460 in a 69 Camaro, stock style steering box, etc

ditto on the Patriots. I have them on a 69 BB Camaro with a manual trans and 600 series PS box. My car is lower than stock with no ground clearance issues. My only gripe is changing the oil filter is a little tricky.

I've also had a set of Hooker Super Comps, on my car, they fit well, gotta use the upgraded ones though, ditto on the Oil filter, I went to the KN Filter, with the bottom were you can put a socket on it to remove, sure helps to finese out,
I think Patriot makes a full length, the Company was started by a guy that ran Hooker for many years, he left when it was sold to Holley, they seem to still have quality control,,,,, the Lemons are also nice, but gez 1100 -1200 sorta steep

Are they really? When I had a small block in my 68 Camaro I bought a set of coated Super Comps and I had to bang em to get them to fit. I banged them right where the steering box is at.
They fit good on a big block w/ stock steering?
the fit on super comps are great
