Thought I would share some current pics of the 68 Camaro project.
We are getting very close. Just need to finish interior, some sheet metal alignnment and brake lines.
We have been working really hard and have went from rotisserie to it's current state in about 3 weeks. We were trying to make the Turkey run show in Daytona but fell a little short.

Badass looking Camaro. But, those Heartbeat 1980's valvecovers aren't worthy of being on that fine ride :)

Some plain ones or sheetmetal ones would look 100x better.

Thanks for the kind words.
I agree 100% on the valve covers.
We bought this car as a project. The 502ci came with it.
I like the GM cast covers, wish they made the 502 covers like the 572 ones.

Pretty far along aren't ya. I would go with the ribbed valve covers personally or some plain PC's black ones. Car is looking great.

I have a new Dart intake coming also(getting polished). Don't care for the Victor.
Also going to eliminate the spacer.

Looks great. I build a set of SFCs just like yours. Question; did you use crush tubes in the horizontal holes that mount the sub frame?

Yes I welded in sleaves so I could tighten it without crushing the 2x3.

I maybe mistaken but Mark may mean what did you undercoat/paint the unerside of the car with? At least that is what I am curious about.

And is that HOK Tangelo Pearl?

67speedfreak
12-10-2007, 05:57 PM
The underside of the car is coated with Rapter coating.
It's a bedliner spray.

This is the first time I have used it and am very impressed with it.
It is very hard and durable.

The Gas cap is made by Goodridge.
It is a Motorcycle part. Can be bought any cycle shop that carries Goodridge parts.

We machined a ring that welded to the filler neck to adapt it.

I like the open port you left for the sub and also the fact you went with true seperates for the mids and highs. The deck looks to be an Alpine in the dash? What amp and speakers did you go with for the rest of the car?

scogin918
01-17-2008, 03:52 AM
Lookin' sweet. I love a JL Audio Sub with the BA seperates. Are those mount and cover panels going right on top of the metal? Is the sub a free air that uses the trunk as the enclosure?

67speedfreak
01-17-2008, 06:01 AM
The sub has a box. The panel w/ the speakers is flushed in to the package tray and the grill panel will sit on top.

As far as the rest of the system.

Boston 6.5 pro's in custom kick panels.
JL Audio 500/1
JL Audio 300/4 amps

I'll try and take some pics of it in the car today.

Well, I thought I would post an update on Agent Orange.
People have been asking where she is.

We have taken her apart and are redoing all the bodywork and paint from the previous owner.
This project came to us painted and it just wasn't up to our standards.

Car is receiving 2 new quarter a passenger door and a lot of other tweaks to the body.

She should be the total package now, I just wasn't happy with the body work and paint on the car.

2 steps forward and three back!!!

I will post some pics soon.

Man it's hard to see it go backwards. I was driving it last month.

Car is receiving 2 new quarters, outer wheel houses, trunk drop offs and a passenger door shell. we are also welding up the corners of the header and lower valance to get the fit just right. this time around all the gaps and fit will be as close to perfect as we can get.

How did the auction go?

The auction was alot of fun ! Was my first one ! We had a ton of interest in the car but it did not meet reserve ! I think our time slot was part of the problem. The car stalled at $57,500 but I had a solid offer of $70,000 ! It's going to take a little more than that !

Thanks,
Brian
