I had a 377 with Procharger on my daily driver Nova a couple of years ago. I had Comp Cam spacer bearings. I bought everything else from Lunati (crank, actual bearing, prep'ed OE 400 block, etc). Put 30,000+ miles on the motor before I cracked a couple of pistons. The motor had seen several 2000-mile road trips as well as 10+ drag strip passes.

I don't see any problem with spacer bearings as long as all machine work are done correctly and the motor is assembled right. But I personally don't recommend it to somebody else if he/she can afford a crank or a block with correct main journal size.

I thought someone makes bearings with thick shells for this application now, but I could be wrong.

I'm sure these thicker bearings are still around, but don't know who is making them :dunno:
