Very nice. What happened to the Chevelle wagon you also had going? Is it finished?
NEVER MIND I FOUND IT ON YOUR SITE :-)
Wow thats pretty damn nice...
What i really would like to see is more of this build the bottom of the pic it looks like an LS7 with twin turbos?

Yes, we've done a number of LS7 twin turbo's. The Cutlass in a SX model. The engine is actually an LS7 that I stroked to 455 cid, It now has the same bore and stroke as the original 455 Olds. Here's some pics from yesterday. Hope to have this at the Year One event.

The wagon is progressing slowly. The floors are in and the trans tunnel was raised approx 2 inches to accommodate the T-56 trans. I get to make brackets for the front brakes to fit the MonoBlocks to the uprights. It's getting 15inch rotors in front and 14's in back.
Here's a link on his site to the Can-Am car.

Jeff, can I talk you into keeping that vinyl top off? One of the nicest parts of that body are those angular lines on top of the rear quarters and the black top just kills them IMO.

Customer insists on keeping the top. Trying to do it in carbon material. Most of the Supreme and SX (ones with a notch roof line) had the vinyl on them. What turbos? No shots with grill hood on yet.

I'm a pretty strict Olds fan, and I hate seeing Chevy engines swapped into Oldsmobile's. And I consider the LS engines to be a Chevy design. (not looking to start a cyber fight)
I must say though, this particular "LSX-455" has me more then just a bit intrigued. Excellent work, I look forward to more progress.

I'm an Olds (and Pontiac) fan too. I've even built several Olds engines this year alone. The owner of this project is a die hard Olds fan with several other perfectly restored examples.
This LS7 has the same bore and stroke as the Olds 455. (4.125 bore x 4.25 stroke) In this car he wants to drive it everyday in the summer with all the modern conveniences (efi) and gas mileage that the latest GM engine design provides. We're also going to contruct a stock Olds looking air cleaner to make to the ram air hood.
Thanks
PS
Ask me about the Twin Turbo 326 Pontiac engine 65 LeMans project.

LS7 block.

Yes it took a lot of work to get the block, crank, rods, pistons, cam, to get along inside. I had interference with all.
Even the small end of the rods hit the crank counterweights at BDC.
I used the LS7 block as it's 200# lighter than an LSX. It also has the longest cylinder liners of all LS blocks.
Thanks

Here's a couple updated shots.
Since this car is gonna be driven, the bottom is sprayed with tinted bedliner and the chassis is powdercoated.
Motown 454
11-16-2008, 06:12 PM
Wow Jeff that looks sweet. How is the texture of the bed liner, is it fairly smooth. How much pressure did you use to spray it with? Did you spray the base pan and trans with something?
jeff s
11-16-2008, 07:49 PM
I had a specialist do the bedliner. It's smooth enough where you can wipe it with a rag and no lint sticks to it. The whole bottom is that, wheel wells are black, same material.

Jeff, killer job on an unusuall build! I have a 68 Id love to mod even half of what you did! I like that it was something different not the usuall Camaro.
How well does the car perform through the turns/corners? What made the biggest change to the handling in you're perspective?
Read the article, actually I bought the mag because it. Anyway, phenomenal job :yum:

The car handles and rides awesome. The owner has written me a couple emails and it totally thrilled with the car. His wife is getting a bit too attached to it though. It's very much like a modern German car Benz or BMW. We put a bit more caster in it to give it the heavier european feel to the steering. We also dynamatted everything, real quiet in the car and a solid thunk, when you close the doors. If you closed your eyes, youd never know you were in a Cutlass. Skidpad was .76 before and 1.02 after with those tires. All the chassis we sell have capability of 1.08-1.10 G's with BFG R1's on them.
