67BlackBird

All,
I have a 67 Firebird with the charming ability to put the front tires into contact with the fender when i hit a bump- even while driving in a straight line. I think the springs are about 10 years old- Moog big-block springs, while the shocks are a bunch older.
Anyway, have ordered new shocks from Hotchkis (there was a sale). Question is- should the springs be replaced at the same -time? I guess the root question is weather the rubbing is a spring or shock issue? The car does not bounce back and forth when you press down on a fender and let it rebound.
Would the old springs "wear out" the new shocks if I just threw 'em in??
Thanks -
