View Full Version : The ultimate interior in your ride would be done by who?
compos mentis

I've got some initial thoughts on what I want for an upcoming
interior, but I'm interested in learning others' ideas.
Since I don't have any idea what a top notch interior costs,
lets just use 'monopoly money' for now.
Some of the questions that I have...
If you decided to spend serious dollars on an interior, who would you use for it?
How much do you think it would cost?
Or would you prefer to be able to say you did yourself?
Estimates on how much you'd save using the same components?
What design features and components would you want it to have?
Any rides out there now you'd pattern your interior after?
Not sure of the final color, but this is what the final product will look like...with a huge thanks to ALLKAR.

Croman,
Thanks for the link. A lot of pics which is helpful of course.
When I saw Ring Brothers' Stangs last year, I was impressed by Recovery's different take on the interiors. Also, the black Chevy '38 coupe they did is amazing, especially the dash.

A very good recomendation..
Out here I'm very happy with Eric Thornson in Agoura Hills (Does the stuff for Steve Strope)... Gabe, who does the interiors for boyd, is also very good.

This thread is disfunctional????WTH
1. OP, how much you wanting to spend on an interior? 5K? 20K?
I gotta say Tracy Weaver's work blows me away, and he would be my choice for an "Ultimate" interior, hands down.
2. SHANNON is not a female, WTH? He does very nice work also.

Tracy Weaver, Recovery Room. he is doing my truck the C6-57 and Johns Nova. Novanutcase. He is not cheap but like the old saying goes "Cheap tattoos are not good and good tattoos are not cheap." So if you want a tattoo, don't go to Tracy, but if you want a really nice interior call Tracy

Like I said, I don't know the cost. That's what I'm looking to learn; how much it takes for a first class interior but not going mega $$$ on audio. The 427 LT5 comes in stereo I hear-:)

I saw your other thread the other day, looks like a very cool project, and since I love 55s, one I will be wanting to watch. I would say you will spend 15K-18K on the interior to do that car justice. Everything will be custom on it since not much to choice from originally. Look at the pictures Tracy did on the brown 57 for SEMA and that will give you some idea of his take on tri-5s.
Since right now I am spending your money, you might want to contact Craig Morrison about one of their G-Max frames for tri5s. Look at their site if you have not already to get an idea on how well their 55 does.
Great project choice, just be ready to get the ole checkbook out. Well worth it though once you start driving the car.

Sorry, wasn't trying to come off as rude. I'm just saying, I've seen thousands of interiors, and heard even worse stories about the installers (you think body shops can hold your car for years? Go to a bad interior guy....) and after all that Tracy gets my vote 100% of the time if you have the money.
Check this guys out....

BTW, as far as color goes, have you looked at the 08 Corvette Jet Stream Blue as a choice yet? Very close to what you have in the rendering, just a thought.

Thanks Tyler,
I also appreciate the link. Excellent advice on Tracy. When you keep hearing great things from a lot of sources obviously that creates a comfort level for a buyer. I'm looking foward to seeing his pics of the 50's cars. Like I said earlier, that '38 Chevy coupe, is amazing. I've never seen anything like that dash, which was part of the point I'm sure.

I should say more incredible things about Tracy's work...that'll keep costs down.
I'm looking foward to seeing that Corvette blue you suggested. Might as well use a Vette color too.
'Cuz its got a Vette motor, Vette tires, Vette shocks...
I traded the Caddy for it..:drive:

I recommend Tracy Weaver - Recovery Room Interiors. He has levels of interiors and costs so don't think you "have" to spend $20k for an interior. Now to get an ultimate interior it's going to be north of $20k, but it will be something NO ONE has!!!

12-04-2007, 06:24 PM
Thanks Jeff, that helps.
Anybody know what $10K sans audio gets you when its a 50's shoebox?
(I'm hoping I can get more than John Goodman's 'lightly used' (yeah right) Laz-E-Boy on Roseanne and some shag carpeting for 10 G's!)
Probably no console, not to keep costs down, but to keep it as it was intended, a six seater.

Darrin Cutter http://www.customstitchin.com/ is pretty good and a heck of a nice guy. His style is similar to Shannon's. Either one of these guys would fit in your budget. If you want to go high end, Gabe, Griffin, or Paul Atkins are the top dogs right now.

Griffin Interiors of Bend, Oregon of whom I know nothing about other than they did the interior for that nasty '66 Biscayne. Rad Rides fabbed the dash on their car of course... which has amazing looking gauges IMHO. Very nice touches using aluminum in the door panels as trim. The styling on the door panels looks like something you'd see on a 2008 luxury car.
I just noticed the shifter plate was missing some bolts...Rushed it 'cuz of a PHR deadline probably...but I would think someone got an earful at Rad Rides.

Griffin does Foose's Ridler cars. In my opinion he is probably the best there is. I think others have him beat on design but no one can beat him on fit/finish.

I heard threw the grapevine that Griffin is a real pain in the a#* to work with and he has a tendency to raise his price as the project nears the end. I have also heard from some folks who were at SEMA that Troys even looking at replacing Griffin with somebody else, like Recovery Room or someone closer to him that is not a horses a#* to work with. Those are all rumors though.
