I know the photos are with the car apart, but you get the idea. The booster will fit, I've seen it done before. I thought I'd post up some photos of the process and how I did it all.

I first took the old master cylinder off and removed all the pedals. I imagine you could do it without removing the pedals, but it would make it a lot easier and it isn't hard to do, plus you can replace the bushings and crap while you are at it. I replaced everything in the pedals and powdercoated them and installed Modo pedal covers.

The first thing I did was take the LS1 booster and made a template for the opening needed.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2007/11/IMG_6150-1.jpg

After this I set the booster in the firewall and set the template, then traced out the opening and cut the hole needed.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2007/11/IMG_6149-1.jpg
And then test fit the booster:

After this I took the brake pedal bracket and removed the studs for the old master cylinder. I decided to use the studs on the LS1 booster instead. I have heard they fit perfectly, but on the car I am building it was a little tight, so I had to grind the holes a little to make it work. Be sure you test fit everything before you get too far into it! You can see them removed in this photo of the bracket.

What I did next was weld in some metal to fill in the top part of the hole for the old master cylinder. Then I reused the template and cut the new metal to the correct hole.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2007/12/IMG_6286-1.jpg

After this, I reinstalled the pedals and installed the LS1 booster on the firewall. The LS1 booster has an eye hole connection to the pedals, where the 1st gen has a u-shaped bracket that screws into a solid rod. I installed the rod and bracket on the pedals and then measured the length needed to put the two together.

I then cut the eye hole off of the LS1 booster and trimmed the threaded rod to the length I measured. Then I put some wet rags around the LS1 booster shaft and welded the rod onto the end of the booster shaft.

Now you can install it all back on the car with the pedals and you're ready to go! I'll try and get them installed and get some underdash photos tonight. It wasn't hard at all, and it will go well with my LS1 brakes on all 4-corners.

Hope this helps someone!

Oh, one thing I found. If you are running a T56, the S&P or ATS master cylinder brackets will NOT work with the LS1 booster. You have to modify them the same way I did the firewall.

I have designed a bracket to work with the LS1 booster, so as soon as I have it machined and try it out, I'll post up pics.

that is why i modified the bolt pattern on the booster. it is much easier to do and you do not have to modify the car or the ATS bracket. also you will have changed the angle that the brake rod and clutch rod are actuated. it may not be a problem but could be. if i take it back apart i will take pics.

This will be great info for me as well. On friday I bought the complete brake setup off of a 99 Z that a friend bought for the LS1 for his car. Should I get the proportioning valve and use that too? I'm hoping my 15" wheels will clear until I can get bigger ones.

Keep the pics and details coming.

Are you any further on this project?

I am doing LS1 brakes all around and I'm to the point of hooking up the new parts to the old lines. I am planning on using some universal Russell braided brake hoses on the calipers. I am planning on using the stock metering valve/distribution block unless anyone sees a problem with this. I just need to hook the two together.

Does anyone know if the front port on the m/c is for the front brakes? Also what thread are they? I see Earls makes some fittings that may work in there.https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

They are metric double flares, and I believe they are different sizes too if memory serves me right.

I am running LS1 brakes front and rear on my 67 Firebird with the stock style booster and the LS1 master cylinder. Only short trips round the block though as I shortly put it back in the garage for body work and paint etc. So havent really driven hard on it.

I just took the stock lines from the donor car and then standard flared them to fit the distribution block.

I set it up so the front port goes to the front brakes.

will this mod also work on a second gen camaro?

I just picked up the adapter fittings I need to adapt my 99-up "LS1" F Body brakes to my 71 Nova. Hope it helps someone.

IF - Inverted Flare
BF - Bubble Flare

MC Front port 3/16 IF X 12-1.0 BF Edelmann #265000 Everco# 3014 Weatherhead# 7974
MC Rear port 3/16 IF X 11.5-1.5 BF Edelmann #264000 Everco# 3030 Weatherhead# 7973

Brake hoses F&R 3/16 IF X 10-1.25 BF Edelmann #271300 Everco# 3024B Weatherhead# 1442

I will need to bend some lines to replace the MC to Prop valve lines because the fittings are larger thread and the lines exit the MC on the passengers side.

I do not know if everything is the same for second gens. Rears should bolt up like first gen though.

Would it be the same on a 71 camaro? Any finished pictures?

I have read the 88 S10 is the same master cylinder with standard thread and outlets are on the driver side. I just hate to buy another one when I have the donor off the 98 ta

I did similar with C5 booster and MC on a 2nd Gen:

I modified the original bracket off of the 73 booster. Pictures of the process can be found here.

Looks like i may want to check into the vette mc specs vs the ls1 camaro since the ports are on the outside.

Any got the info?

Just curious, Can I run this set-up with drums in the rear? I presume I would have to change the proportioning valve or what?

anyone?

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work. You would need to change the proportioning valve in addition to possibly adding some residual pressure valves for the drum brakes.
