I'm assembling the new Ford Racing Boss block based twin T70 turbo engine. Ford Racing Z series heads that we've massaged. Will dyno it in Jan. My goal is to drive this and make a few 9 second passes on Hot Rod Power Tour 2008.
The rendering is here: www.schwartzperformance.com/ford.htm (http://www.schwartzperformance.com/67ford.htm)
Thanks

I ran into a problem with the Ford Racing roller rockers hitting the valve cover, due to the offset rocker required for the new Ford Racing Z series heads. They just came out with a new Boss specific valve cover. They're on the way.
Notice rear sump road race pan, this will allow 4" of engine set back, while clearing the front crossmember.
Current weight is 3329# F R % are 53.6, 46.4 with the iron trans, bellhousing, 289 iron heads, intake.

Neat project, Jeff. What are you planning to use for the upper intake (custom fab I'm guessing), and distributor? Or will it be DIS?

cheers

I'm extending the runners with cnc'd piece, as I have hood clearance, and it'll help dist clearance, topping it off with a Holley stealth ram part.
It's got ribs like the valve covers that'll get powder coated black wrinkle and machined like the valve covers. Forward facing TB.
MSD short, small dist with crank trigger.
Thanks

Just got the Boss valve covers. Waiting for the CNC work to be completed on the intake parts.

I like how those new covers are shaped, mimicking the original Boss 302. Just wish they made a version of them without the lettering, with fins all the way across. Maybe the aftermarket will respond with something similar.

They have some that just say Boss on 'em.
These are the ones Ford Racing wanted on my engine.

My customer and friend from Hong Kong (Crafty) wants to drive it as well. But he was so insane when he drove my Ultima on HRPT in 2006 with 500hp, I'm not gonna turn him loose with 1003 hp. He'll probably drive the 68 Corvette, if my wife bails out.

Final intake manifold work in process. CNC machined pieces extend runner length by 3 inches for more torque. 95# Injectors are mounted up high for better fuel atomization. All that should fit under the stock flat hood.

Jeff,

What brakes are you going with? I'm looking all over the place to find anything to go on my '65 Galaxie 500. Somebody said you were going with Baer if I remember correctly.

JC,

I'm running scarebird conversions on my front of my 66. SSBC makes a kit for your gal and another company called Master Power makes a kit.

They are in the autokrafters.com catalog.

You can also do the spindle swap from a 70 or so thunderbird I believe but I've heard alignment issues.

I'd like to see more of this car.

Nor sure on the brakes at this time as this project is on hold. But either way we'll fab brackets and make our own kit. It's really not that hard.

Jeff, any updates on this project? I would like to see what all you're planning for suspension. Will you offer some of these components or are they all one-offs?

jeff s

Still on hold due to divorce. It's looking like April 2010 is the last court date, hopefully.
There's been some thought of ditching the twin turbo idea and using a 427 FE that was optional in this car.
We will offer some suspension parts when we're done.

Any insight as to what you will offer? Arms? Links? Chassis? Chassis stiffening bolt-ons?

not at this time

Hey Jeff. Just wondering if you guys gave up on this project. I love your new website, but don't see the custom in there anywhere. Did you guys get any farther on the suspension? I would definately be interested in purchasing a full frame from you if you guys ever get close enough. Hope all is well!
