SubFrame Connectors Necessary on hardtop 2nd Gen?

I know with T-top 2gen cars SFCs are a pretty vital... but how vital/important are they with hardtops?

I will be installing solid subframe/body bushings and the g-Braces from www.pro-touringf-body.com (http://www.pro-touringf-body.com) so I will already have significant stiffness added to the subframe... so are the SFCs all that necessary too.

Just looking for opinions I guess.

Hi again Jon, darn it's Sunday and I'm at the shop working :( any way yes the frame connectors are a must especialy when you improve the hadling ability of a car all that extra road grip adds a lot more load to the chassis especialy with T-tops and if you are getting the G-braces and body bushing just get the stop flex kit it will save you a few $$

I already have some CE SFC bolt-ins that I was going to weld in, but I'm leaning away from using from a ground clearance perspective. Do yours tuck up better underneath than the CEs? I have considered just getting your whole Stop Flex kit (and may do that yet)... just trying to decide for sure and spend wisely! Dang car's budget is getting downright out of hand!!!!!!! :drive2:

You will not be dissappointed with the combination of all three. I cannot remember if the SFCs are 1.25" or 1.5" round tube but they do fit nice & tight up against the floor supports. They have much better clearance than the CE bolt-ins, which I ran prior.

If you are running a true dual exhaust they will not hang lower than the mufflers. Even with my 2.5" with 3.5" thick Eddy mufflers they are about even. My ground clearance is as good as it has ever been.

Anyway, the best way to get handling without killing the ride is to get rid of the flex, and while it typically got better with each generation, F-bodies (even hardtops) have plenty of flex. On top of improving the handling it will lower noises associated with the flexing, and ensure the body doesn't get distorted after yeras of torture.

I'd recommend Dave's full kit. Wish he had them for 1st gen convertibles. It's the best thing you can do short of a cage.
