Nice work by Allkar.
To quote Tim Allen commenting on the backlash he got after it appeared on Home Improvement a Nomad had a large metal object dropped on it, "We didn't really crush a Nomad"
Please file any complaints with the Originality Police Dept. since only some electrons were disturbed, no sheetmetal.:squint:
I'm not planning on building a 'vert, but they're nice to look at obviously.

Bottom one IMO looks better.

I like how Allkar got rid of the horizontal fender seam up by the front parking light and added the '55 Nomad rear qtr panel. A lot of Tri Five chevy guys lose it over that part of the chop.

I like the skirted rear fender better in the first one. Looks sleaker. Second one takes away from the car like its showcasing the wheel and not the lines of the body

^ which is always the case so the wheels take a backseat to those cars most of the time.. so i think its good.

The top is best, skirts are 55's, removing them is like removing wing windows from the 67 Camaro. They just belong there.

Really, it all depends on personal taste. That has been my experience.
I love the car but to me, the rims don't compliment that body style.

Stick with the stock rear wheel opening! I like the top one.

If anybody has got some alternatives that you think would look good on this style 55 'vert, just post them so we can all see them.

First one!
Boxy rear well fits the boxy shape of the car.

Originally I was the one who moved up the rear chrome strip and changed the rear wheel well and Allkar adopted it.

Here's a pic that you could use as a guide.
Roy Brizio's '55, as many probably know, uses the Art Morrision chassis and has a great stance IMHO. The white walls kind of disguise the fact its running 18" '62 Vette wheelcover style' billet wheels.

I like the top picture but with the black wheels. I like that the fender lips are the same height on the last pic but don't like that the wheel openings are different shapes. And I understand your title for this topic after seeing it over on Chevytalk. They have unmatched expertise in tri5's but can be a bit odd in that they go gaga over modified chassis but seem to think the sheetmetal is sacred and not to be altered.

I couldn't agree more and that's coming from someone who has a '55 Nomad with 18s and 20s. I just think there was a reason why the '55 was the only Nomad with those big rear wheel openings and it also was the only Nomad with unique eyebrow - fender - door spears.

If you're going to go with the Nomad rear wheel wells. Try going with a 56 corvette-ish side trim.
Follow the front fender eyebrow, then make an elipse that comes past the door and bring it back around to the bottom of the front wheelwell.
Hopefully the space behind the rear wheelwells doesn't look too massive without any trim breaking it up.

No that is how a 55 Shoe Box is supposed to look......IMHO!! That thing is just pure old school looks with modern touchs and paint, I love it!!
I have a major soft spot for almost any 55 though.

The rear wheel opening need to be left. Just change the wheels on that one and it would be perfect.
