Body Gaps

Hi all,
what is the recomended body gap in this area, i thought it actually was 000 to .060, body man claims 1/4",is he correct?

1/4 seems pretty thick. I think that closer to 3/16 is more like it

3/16 sounds better to me to 1/4 is to much IMO.

3/16" is what I keep seeing as the reference when I'm reading around.....

It will depend on the car... Build tolerance is the determining factor. Being that the rockers are not adjustable and the fenders float around on the subframe, there is no hard number you can use to set up this gap. All you can do is get it as tight as you can while aligning the rest of the clip. Leaving the subframe "loose" at the initial alignment can help as you can pull it rearward a bit to close up the gap (if everything else allows that adjustment). Pay close attention to the door gaps and use those as your guide. If you still don't like the lower fender gap you can always add a bit of steel to the forward edge to close it up...

I believe the gap between the rocker and front fender (portion you you have circled) should be as close to zero as you can get it ... there shouldn't be a noticable gap here, and definitely not 1/4"! As stated above, door to fender gap is ~3/16".
