Ok Im bulding a 70 chevelle and Im getting ready to do all the repai work around the trunk area. I figured this is the best time if any to make changes for wheels. I was hoping to use C6 corvette wheels something like 18x10.5 or 19x10 im just a little nervous about the backspacing. I did a search on here and found some past posts but I didnt find any def answers. as anyone run a similiar combinations and what problems have they had? Or can anyone give me some suggestions what backspacings have worked before. I really dont wanna mini tub it I kinda want to go as stock in the rear as possible.
Ohhh it may take sometime to reply to anyone, im going to be away with the Army once again.

Base OE C6 5-spoke wheels are:
18x8.5 front with 56mm offset (6.45" BS)
19x10 rear with 79mm offset (8.11" BS)
Unless you widen your front and rear ends, you'll need to run wheel adapters to get your backspacing in the neighborhood you want. It's tight on a 74 Nova...but doable. To the best of my knowledge, the 70 Chevelle had a larger rear wheel tub than the X-bodies.
You can get aftermarket repros with different offsets if you like the style but don't want the OE wheel, just be sure to check your brake clearance before you buy.

I may have spoken too soon...but there are several sizes of certain wheels (C6 Z06) offered in several backspacings. It still looks like the high-offset wheels remain high-offset, only by varying degrees.

The repros are offered in several different diameters though, which can be very handy in the case of tire selection. There weren't a whole lot of options for me in the 19" size that were affordable and not a run-flat, but that's the price you pay. :pat:

Thanks for the help..I dont like the idea of running backspacers...Im going to look into custom wheels or maybe just another set all together.

You can still run C6 wheels, don't lose hope!
Now running spacers beyond .5"+ is a bad idea since it puts stress on the studs since it moves the wheel to a further out which fatigues the studs and also doesn't allow for the lugnuts to be that much further engaged.
BUT! Wheel adapters aren't a bad thing, obviously outside of extra time it takes to bolt them on to the correct torque, but its just like installing a 2nd set of wheels, then they have their own set of studs that you bolt the actuall wheel onto.
I'm sure there are a lot of crappy adapters out there but places like www.skutle.com make high quality pieces that are proven in competition. These are the ones I'll be using... http://www.skulte.com/product_info.php/products_id/58
