Welder opinions?

Any opinions on this machine/setup?

What else would I need to complete the package? Phase 1 115V power is use of a normal wall socket right?

I would be buying it to weld sheetmetal on the car, is this welder more than I would need? Would I need to use gas also? If so what would I need? Would it weld smooth without gas and use of plain .024 wire?

Have had limited welding experience and am not knowledgable with welding accessories.

I am sure others will weigh in, it would probably suit your needs. It does come with a regulator, but you will need to get a tank unless planning to weld with flux-core. I think it is a bit pricey for a 115v 20% duty cycle machine, but miller is a good brand. If you plan on doing anything much thicker or large projects I would go with a 220v instead.

You'd need a bottle of 25%CO2/75% Argon. This machine will weld all the sheet metal you could ever dream of. That said, it's about the smallest MIG MIller makes. If you ever want to weld anything thicker than 1/16", you'll be out of luck.

These machines are the best thing out there for the price. I have had 3 in the last 15-20 years. 1 was stolen, 2 was sold in working condition, and 3 is the best one yet. I didn't get auto set, I like manual settings. Also you can weld 1/8 no problem, up to a 1/4 with preheating. I have used these machines at 100% duty cycle, (way above rating I know), for hours at a time and never had a bit of trouble. Good luck.

phase I 115 volt is for the regular wall socket and that miller is a great welder here is another option for you and it is about 100 cheaper.
