View Full Version : The first 69' Camaro with clear tail lights!

I have been looking for clear tail lights for a 69 Camaro for over 2 years. After seeing the tail lights from Pascual Marquez on the Mule and other cars, I decided to order a pair. The only bad thing was that they had the red lens. I talked to Pascual on the phone and he said he would be more than happy to help me by cutting out the clear lens. I told him I would install the clear lens to see how they looked as a prototype. I also said I would be more than happy to represent his product on my car. I will install LED lights very soon after I modify the light housing.
Edit:Here is the website for Pascual Marquez (http://www.marquezdesign.com/)
With that said here is the first set of clear tail lights on a 69 Camaro!
8 pics total.

I like the look. it would look real smooth on a white car or a lighter colored car. now on a darker color car....it might not look right......I would be curious to see how it would look on my black 68. does he make them and whats invloved. lmk!!!

thanks, colt45

Very nice! I agree though that the color of the car somewhat dictates the color of the lenses to look right.

oh man! I don't know what color your car is going to be but I prefer the red ones with that bezel!!! They look REALLY nice...

I WANT THAT ON MY CAR!!!

I have soldered together LEDs for my taillights and I wanted some white glasses, like the clear ones that are so popular on Japs (I think they call them Lexus lights)

This glasses would work for my setup. Here in Europe we have yellow turn signals, but on older cars reds are OK.

But with these glasses I could have yellow LEDs for turn- and red for brake-lights.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2004/08/leds_rear-1.jpg

They are just prototypes, I will make proper cards to solder on when I tested them. The LEDs have a really strong luminence. I thought that if you have really good brakes the guy behind you must see when you brake.

Thank you for the positive feedback everyone.
My car will be silver once I paint it. Yes the lights look way better in person that they do in the pics from my crappy camera.
Dash isnt finished but it took me around 6 hours to install it. Thats not including cutting out the old dash. It also isnt finished yet so I still have probably another 4 or 5 hours left of wiring and other misc stuff.
Jan that LED setup looks awesome!!! Great idea about the different color LED in ther like yellow for turn and red for brake! :)
I know these lights might be a shocker to some but as most of you know I HAVE to be differn't and I have always wanted clear lights. :D

Jan, it's in the works (as are plenty of other cool things). It's going to be really trick, but I don't want to let the details out just yet.

Also, I should be adding some detail shots of the RS style to www.marquezdesign.com tonight.

Scott,
Shhhh not supposed to say anything yet....... :secret: :lmao:
I will be getting pics of my car in the sunlight tonight some time so I will have some better pics to post hopefully. Instead of sitting in my yard. They look way better in the light.

The only hint I will give is if you have some extra money burning in your wallet, save it. Any other info you should get ahold of Pascual. ;)

Not true Adam, it works in addition to the tail light lenses, not as part of it.

If you're on the fence about these billet lenses, go ahead, pull the trigger. You'll love them.

adam, they look nice, but i really think that the color of the car will make or break the clear lens's, i do not really think it works with every color, but i want to see some more before i make my decision

Alright Adam i think ur car is absolutly sick in all shapes or forms regardless of tail lights, what u have done with everything has pushed my envolope on what can be done to my own car. Ur interior is inguiness and that car just feels so damn right. I imagine the photo doesnt do it justice i just cant stand it. Right now however it looks good. I wouldnt use it but with the primer look it feels somewhat at home. Im just glad there arnt cirle highlights like those damn alteza's...

Looks great Adam.. :)

I agree that the clear would only work with very light colored cars.. Im sure you will get some hassle for the "everying is rice" crowd but congrats for daring to be different..

I have the red Modern ones and I LOVE THEM!! the quality is #1.. cant wait for the side marker lights and front turn signals (HINT HINT!!).. ;)

Thank you everyone again for the awesome feedback about the entire car and the clear tail lights!!!! You guys sure know how to make someone feel great about taking a risk to be different!!!! If it wasnt for Pro-Touring I wouldnt have got this far! I love this site!!!!
Here are a few more pics of the car in the sun. Sure wish I could get better pics but the camera just doesnt do them justice!

Not a real fan of the clear taillights but on your car they look pretty good. Are you painting the car or not?

CAMAROBOY69
08-20-2004, 08:44 AM
Yes I will be painting the car next year some time myself just like the majority of the work on the car is done by myself. :) I know for sure the majority of the car will be silver but the rest has been a tough decision and several drawings later I am still undecided.

Adam quit the site and fell off the internet over a really stupid argument between myself and others from the site. He'd posted a thread that talked about how he'd installed a fuel cell in his car and that it adversely affected his car's performance. Unfortunately someone in the thread pointed out that it was unlikely he could tell because he said he only had 1 inch or so of suspension travel before bottoming out.

The thread served as a great educator on suspension design and feel.
Adam took it personally. He felt people were making fun on him.
They weren't. They were trying to *educate* him. He demanded the thread be deleted. We thought the thread was fine after we edited all the fighting out of it. He took his ball, and went home. (and pulled all the images he posted on the site down.)

Which is sad really. He contributed often to the site. Was a great artist, and had some great ideas on his car.

If you would like to check out Adam's car

Sadly, it seems updates have stopped since he quit here a few years ago.

Here's his Clear tail lights (http://www.adfabdesign.com/Illusion/Clear%20Tail%20lights/ClearTail.html)

Awesome.

I can't wait to see how many more ricerific parts get the pro-touring nod.

LED windshield wiper nozzles?

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2008/04/cobra-1.jpg

LED valve caps?

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

On the plus side, at least pro-touring cars have rwd, so there's no danger of having the spoiler and the drive wheels on the opposite side of the car.

Awesome.

Better watch out or the next thing you know, we'll be swapping on bigger wheels and tires than came from the factory,or lowering the suspension to improve the center of gravity, or upgrading the engine to output more power than stock! even running turbos or superchargers on engines that didn't come with them! gasp! Or... God forbid, we'll see cars with oversized mufflers! Maybe even running coilovers! Some may even tint their widnows or have wild paint schemes!

/Naw. None of that "ricer" stuff will ever catch on.
//They have some pretty good ideas sometimes too.

maybe if they were tinted which I guess would make them not clear. well, what I mean is they are blacked out and show no other color until they light up. How about that?

That was bad news.

I suspected something had happened, I noticed that he wasn't around anymore. He and I had some communication off-forum so I sent him an email asking what had happened but didn't get any response. Maybe he stopped checking his email on that account.

Sad, he was a great contributor to our cause.
