I saw somewhere that somebody made their own hydroboost set up from a 99 Cobra. Im wondering if there are any other cars that I can get the hydroboost set up off of.

thanks

Try Astro vans, a lot of Chevy pickups 2500 and up (3/4 ton, 1 ton, etc) have them. Just be careful about ones that leak. They're relativly easy to install. If you're putting it on the 68 Camaro, use the astro van and a 99 up s10 Blazer 4 wd Master cyl. The lines actually cost more than the Hydroboost unless you get the lines with your unit.....Jim

lots of other cars have them. Astro van's full size trucks, mustangs... from what i hear the mustang ones aren't very powerful and I think the full size truck ones would be a bit too much. I am currently doing this with a full size chevy van hydroboost unit for my 78 camaro and I made a billet bracket to bolt it on the firewall. You also have to modify where the hydroboost goes on to your brake pedal.

Besides the 99 Cobra, 96-04 Mustang GT's all have hydroboost as well. Works quite well on my 03, plenty of power, not much effort needed to stop, even with the not so big stock brakes.

Thats what I was looking for. thanks! So what would be my best choice then? Depending on price ill just go down to napa and pick up a new one and go from there.

It depends on what your caliper package is and how much fabrication you want to do.

The Mustang setup is very well balanced for a PBR C4 Corvette/Z28 caliper arrangement. It should also work well with most C5 caliper packages.

Some ford hydroboosters have real weird connections, best to get a GM one. You could also get a late model one from a jeep, they are available with double sized (blue) accumulators. The mounting plate is really easy to fabricate, hooking it up to the pedal takes a threaded tap, a clevis, some lock nuts and a short sleeve cut to length

the brakes on the car are 13 in. C5 rotors and C5 calipers. the rears right now are drums but will be F-body discs soon enough. Im looking for the easiest but most efficient way to go.

Do you happen to know what Jeep these come from? I'm looking to do a hydroboost swap into my TJ and wonder if it would be a closer fit than the GM unit I'm contemplating.

Astrovans seem to be the most plentiful in the yards last time I looked. You can get a used unit for about 40-60 bux.

I assembled some DIY kits for 2nd Gen camaros and there is a wealth of info in the thread on doing the install.

Also, I will be verifying the measurements on a first gen and if there is interest, I would be willing to put together some kits. The brackets are CNC'ed 6061 T6 aluminum. For the 2nd gens, I also included all of the linkage to attach to the brake pedal and also made sockets to tighten the hydraboost nut. Take a look.
