View Full Version : Brembo Parking Brake
Has anyone ever considered using the Brembo Parking brake as a solution to an alternative emergency brake. This is the same setup used on the Viper when fitted with the Brembo large brake option.

Yes, I have definitely considered using that arrangement. As of now though, the idea hasn't gone past the embryonic stage. I would like to see more info though.
Unfortunately I do not have a set of these calipers in my posession and I was hoping that someone may jump in with more info. Initially I was considering using a set of spot calipers (which i have purchased) but they look too flimsy and too much of a headache to get to function properly. I do not consider them to be much of an emergency/backup system. The only down side that I can see with the Brembo parking brakes is in the price.

From what I have seen so far, there isn't a super easy/cheap solution to fitting parking brakes with decent fixed calipers. Kore3 is selling the rear setup for installing the C5 internal hat parking brakes and there is a guy on the second gen Camaro forums working on a budget version of the same C5 stuff (The Kore3 kit is about 1000 bucks).
So even though the brembo calipers aren't cheap, I haven't seen a super cheap solution for the parking brake issue.

Brembo offers their spot caliper as used on the Viper and some other OE applications (Bentley comes to mind) as well as their aftermarket kits, StopTech offers their own version of the same thing (ST-10?), and Revolution Brake also sells one similar to the Wilwood piece. By the time you add everything up, $600 for a PB isn't unreasonable IMO.

I have the Brembo/Viper parking calipers. They are expensive unless you find somone taking them off of a track converted Viper. The other drawback is that they are fairly big.

need to get a price quote and some engineering drawings on the Brembo units. Not sure if the parking brake caliper from Stop Tech use the same mechanism as the Brembo.
