I'm currently gathering parts for my fuel system for my 69 firebird vert project. I will be using an 04 GTO instrument cluster. I got a stainless repop fuel tank from Classic Industries and Rick's Hot Rod Shop will be installing the fuel pump. My questions is what is ohm values required for the sending unit?

I'm sure the sending unit sends the signal to the ECM and the ECM converts the signal to be read by the fuel gauge in the instrument cluster. I have read somewhere or was told that the sending unit uses the 40-250 ohm values for empty/full readings but there is some confusion as to what is the empty value (40?) or (250?) and the full value would be (250?) or (40?). Any help would be appreciated.

they arent like older style senders, they are a digital 0-5v signal. Im not at the shop right now so I cant look at mitchell1 but if memory serves me right the sender goes direct to the cluster(since i dont have a schematic in front of me Im not positive though). I highly recommend just using the gto sender since you are going with the cluster. My first planned project when I get back to work is a carbon fiber 65 vette with an ls7 and the guy is utizlizing the c6 cluster and that setup has the sender direct to the cluster. I was very adament about using the stock sender cause work arounds for stuff like that cost alot of money and time to overcome normally. Hope this helps and Ill be back in the shop monday so if you have anymore questions Im glad to help

Thanks for the reply. I posted the same question over at LS1GTO.com and got the repsonse that the ohm values are 40~250 with 250 being empty, not sure and would like a second opinion. I think it sends ther signal to the ECM and the ECM converts the signal so the cluster can read the signal.
