Hey guys Im here introducing myself and let me just say that I am very impressed with the cars and the guys that build them on this forum. I guess I should tell you all a little bit about myself. My name is Matt and hail out of Sacramento, CA. I am the second generation owner of California Rewire and we specialize in custom wiring, light fabrication duties and engine swaps. We are pretty much located in the NorCal car mecca of Rancho Cordova with a lot of big name shops and stores just a few minutes distance of the shop including Smedding, Vintage Ford, ATO transmissions and Dan Fodge Engineering(he is also a fabricating god of mine as I have seen him hand mill EFI manifolds, not to mention he is a master engine tuner). There are many others and I like to think we stack up with them as far as quality and the specialized work we all do.
I came across this site just by chance and the cars in here are just my style. I started my car life drag racing VW's (the old ones) but the fact that they dont stay together got me out of that and when I started apprenticing at the shop I was immeresed in all things chevy ford and mopar. Through time I found that I love chevys save a few cars that should have neverr been produced and I do have a fond disdain for fords after owning a few however i do like 9 inchers and '32s.
Im 27 and am still young and dumb enough to get involved in projects with no worries of kiddies and wives YET..... my girlfriend is intent on changing that and I will most likley let her but until then...
Oh yeah what do I own? I have a 62 olds 88 taildragging ratrod and my new project is a 65 chevelle. Plans for it include a bi-turbo LQ9, 4l80e, 9 incher plus a pair of AFX spindles and those cute c5 brakes. Beyond that I plan on a no holds barred barrage on the electronics in this car. My plans for that is to replace or add as many hi tech components so that when I get in I am treated to the same ride as my girls infinty g35. HIDS with DRLs, proximity key, push start, pop up nav and engine monitoring in conjuction with a carputer should also make it in. Auto HVAC, heated and possibly ac'd seats like in mercedes will make their debut as well. LED lighting through out and all this while maintaining the stock look of the chevelle. Im not a big fan of gaudy overly accesorized cars as I am from the clean and mean school of thought. This will mean that the engine compartment will be completly shaved save for the MC with a remote wiper setup including a rain sensor installed to follow the hi tech theme. Exterior mods should be subtle but will include shaving the trim and stock badges and possibly incorporating the 67 style SS hood vents into the mix. Beyond that I plan on this being one hell of a sleeper that at first glance looks like a mild restomod but when push comes to shove should be able to deal with ANYTHING on the road. I found out a long time ago that drag racing is fun but it sucks to drive a drag car on the street not to mention the fun cars to play with can turn as well as go fast in a straight line. My opinion was swayed when I raced a very modded 911 and beat the guy to the turn in the road and almost died because I couldnt turn with my pizza cutters up front. Since then my opinion of a car is based on three things, IS IT FAST GOING STRAIGHT? IS IT FAST TURNING? DOES IT LOOK GOOD DOING IT? If it fulfills those requirements then we are good to go and the cars around here definitely get to put a check mark next to each one of those. Due to a bad motorcycle accident I cant really work on anything at the moment and have been laid up since july but the settlement I recieved is paying for this and I hope I should be showing off my project within the next few months. So once again Id like to say hello and hopefully I will make a few friends around here!!
