Has anyone tried using big block frame mounts in 69 camaro to move ls1 to passenger side 1" for header clearance. I know these mounts work when doing bb to sb swap not sure about ls.
i have no idea. there is an active post on LS1 tech right now about BB frame stands. looks like the guy smashed his heater core all to hell.

Thanks for the link. I figured the heater core would be an issue but I have a smoothed fire wall. I just figured that would clear up a lot of header and brake booster room. Any one try this.

Something I've never really thought of, but what about trans tunnel clearance with a T56? It's a pretty tight fit, and moving it to one side could cause a problem. I have absolutely no header clearance problems, but I have an aftermarket front subframe with rack & pinion.

Not sure about tunnel clearance problems. The BB mounts actually moves the engine 1" to the right but twist it 1/2". They did this on a BB to clear the power steering box. I am in the proccess of ordering a TKO 600 which is a little smaller than the t56. Just fiqured the ls1 is almost the size of a BB, definaltley bigger than a small block. Any more thoughts would be great.

I always thought the LSx motors were smaller than a traditional SBC. They sure look smaller in the engine bay anyways. Mine only started to fill up the engine bay after the big, shiny Magnacharger went on top of it.
There are a few good headers out there that are designed to work with the small block frame mounts and should clear the steering box. I'd check out Stainless Works, their LSx headers I own fit great and the quality and looks are top notch. I believe they were designed to be used with an S&P motor mount adapter for the proper fit, but I'd call them to be sure.

Just measured my sb block chevy to be sure. Its 18 1/2 inches from header mount to header mount. My LS1 is 19 3/4. BB is approx 22 1/2. I would love to use small block mounts and stainless works headers. I called stainless works and they could not tell me what adapter plates they mocked the headers with. There is a lot of variation. Also need to know whether the short or tall sb frame mounts. Looking like i'm just going to have to buy a lot of parts I dont need and test fit.
Edit- Also s&p makes two mounts. One moves the engine 1 1/4" I think.
well i just went through some mount madness!
my ls1 and t56 were at a downward angle due to a tab on my t56 hitting the trans tunnel.i thought it was an engine frame mount problem. i went to classic industries and bought some short 302/350 frame stands and the proper tall/narrow motor mounts. no go, it lifted the engine higher. so i tried the short stands with the other short/wide energy mounts, nothing again, because my oil pan was sitting on the crossmember. so i switched back to the taller 327 frame mounts.
lsx motors seem to be deeper than old small blocks. that or my autokraft pan is way deeper than it needs to be.
im using car shop (s&p) style motor mounts and short/wide energy motor mounts.
