I recall Steve Rupp having them on the Bad Penny Camaro. The plan was for them to be on the car for SEMA I had thought..... (Toyo gift)

I asked the same question about a month ago but got no response. It would be great if someone using these shoes could give us a little feedback on how they stick on the street- or not. I did get a chance to speek with the Reps at Toyo while attending SEMA. They dont seem to be in much of a rush to release additional sizes, especially 17" due out in Q1 of 08. The tire has a UTQG rating of 100 should be pretty sticky but certainly not last long. I also spoke with the reps at nitto, found out toyo and nitto are sister companys, I would think the nitto NT01's would be pretty close in performance to the r888s, but dont know anyone that has used these tires street or race. They look similar from a specification stand point. If you got them, lets here about them, got to be fun on the street!- Rich

I'd love feedback. I'm not concerned about tread life at 2000 miles/year. Sure would like to maximize braking, etc. NT-01's are available in the 16" size I need.

James,

Did you order your r888s from someone in the states, if so who's got them?

I would really like to give them a try, unfortunatly 17x315 and 17x245 not available yet.

I have about 40 miles on them now..lol

They are great on the street. Lateral traction is great. No wet experience but I would take it easy with them in wet.

However, I heard that, like the RA1, the out-of-the-box configuration of these tires are used as rain tires for race teams and that they are shaved down for dry. So they can't be THAT bad in the rain.

Anyways, love the tires. They seem maybe a tiny bit more noisy compared to the RA1s but nothing bad. I've also heard to expect 10-12k miles out of them (not counting burn outs). That should last me between 1 and two years. Oh, also heard that like the RA1s that they don't heat cycle bad.

So far I love them.. only downside is that they tend to toss up more rocks due to thier stick nature. grip is great.
