Well after discussuing and planning my 70 Barracuda project with shop in Sacramento for the last year, and arranging to have the car in the shop in early Dec, the shop just decided to bail out on me. They decided they had too much work for the next year and can no longer take on my project.

Since I've been in regular communication with the shop for along time, I havent even approached any other shops to discuss the project. I thought I had the right shop with the right people already lined up and ready to go. Apparently not.

So I'm looking for a shop in the northern CA area that has a great reputation for metal work. I need someone that can do rust repair as well as do custom metal fabrication. I'mnot looking for anyone to do a complete car, just the metal work that I'm not capable of doing myself.

If anyone has recommendations, please let me know.

Milanis Autocraft in Novato (North of SF) does great work.
They have a bodyman, Cecil, that is fantastic.

Hey Ned,
my shop of choice is:
Preferred AutoBody & Custom
1654-F N. Texas St.
Fairfield, CA 94533

(707)427-3685
They have 3 of my cars right now, and have done MANY for myself and friends in the past. They are not new to metalwork.

Suzanna will most likely answer the phone, but ask for Horacio or Rene and tell them Brian referred you. You won't be disappointed.

If you're OK with going a little farther south I'll offer up Ironworks Speed & Kustom in Bakersfield!

You might try Robbie at Pacific Coast Customs in American Canyon. He is young and very talented. http://pacificcoastcustoms.com/ Tell him Jason from B.A.D. recommended him.

Obviously, there's a lot of talent in NorCal.

Regarding pure metal fab, the best work I've seen anywhere comes from Salinas:

Worth a look...
