Does anyone have any experience with Headman headers (HED-68278) fitting in 69 First Gen with an LT-1. I am not sure if the angle plugs with cause an interferance problem.
If you have a first Gen F body with an LT-1, what headers are you using or suggest. I want to run full lenght.

I have narrowed my options down to two....Dougs 368 full length and Thorleys 376 tri-y.
Any sugestions?
Is a tri-y better than a full 4 into 1?
I have read that try-y give more bottom end TQ. Will a try-y with 1 5/8 primarys "choke" the engine once some mods are done to the engine?
Personaly I like the look of 4 into 1 full length best.

I'm using hedman mid length headers, on the 69. not sure of the #. They are HTC coated Sm. block Camaro units, and they fit fine. I suggest "Earls Pressure Master" gaskets for LT1 D-port heads. also, I've had bad luck with the ball & socket style collectors. I'd go with good old 3 bolt flange style, with earls PM's there too.

i just put a set of dyna tech headers 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 on my lt1 and am happy with the quality and they fit good(plug clearance, clear iroc steering gear box and tug pretty close up underneath), they also dont block the exhaust port at all with my ported heads. They also have excellent customer service.

can you point me in the direction of where you got these? and how do you like the iroc gear box any mods to get it to work?
I have a 69' T/A Clone with a LT1. Factory power steering. Will any of these work? I also need to make sure any or all of them will fit before I buy a set!

I'm PRETTY sure I have Dynomax 86001's on my LT1 Nova. The 85XXX is painted and 86XXX is ceramic coated. It's been about 10 years since I got them and that's what I recall.
Well thats good info..Your the 2nd person to say the Dynomax's fit even with power steering. The other guy said he had to put a small dent in the drivers side header to get it to fit though?

I opted to clearance the steering box instead when I swapped that out. It was really close before. I also have poly engine mounts which keeps the engine from rocking into it.

What do you mean? Are you using a different steering box?

Yes I am using a box out of a newer camaro/firebird because of the faster ratio. It's a "Z" box, has a z cast into the case. I don't remember what years they had em. I think some Monte's had them too. I think I had to get metric to AN fittings for the hoses and I might have had to change the arm on the shaft. Sorry for the lack of details but it's been a few years.
Nice..Ill have to see if I can get one of those for better clearence. I have a friend who owns a junk yard, so maybe ill get lucky. =)

The Z box was not any smaller, I just knew where to grind a bit to clearance. I will see if I can get a photo of it.
